Jun’s POV
Matsu stared at Nino, it was the third day that he had arrived in Nino’s memories and he had seemingly made no progress with making Nino remember all fall for him. He couldn’t help it, every time he looked at Hana, he could barely tell that it was his husband.
The mole was there and the same cute features, but there was none of the spark that Matsu loved so much in eyes. Even his ugly cute hands were slender and graceful. She was a beautiful graceful woman but he missed his Nino so much it was like a physical ache in his body.
Every time she looked at him and flashed an almost but not quite Nino smile Matsu felt tears sting in his eyes.
“Matsumoto-san, are you well?” Hana asked softly, Matsu nodded quickly and fumbled around for something to say. They were in the garden standing on a humped bridge overlooking a rose bush that was in full bloom. Hana/Nino must have really loved roses back then, Matsu thought he even had one in his hair.
Matsu remembered that his human Nino had liked the flower too, he had kept the purple one Matsu had given him when he was trying to court him.
“You like roses, Domoto-sama? Only I notice that you have one in your hair…” Matsu said trying to latch onto something to talk about.
“Yes, my husband said that I reminded him of roses, because they have thorns”
“You remind him of thorns?”
“I must confess that I made a rather… Thorny impression when we first met” Hana giggled and Matsu almost wept as he saw a flash of Nino, the real Nino in her eyes. “I was very cruel to him”
“I doubt that would be possible my lady”
“I pushed him in the river” Hana giggled again hiding her face with her hand as her eyes danced.
“Can I ask why?”
“He tried to tell me on the very day we met that we were meant to be together… That he a dreamt of me…”
“And you, my lady did you dream of him?” Matsu asked trying a failing to keep his voice level, how, how would he be able to make the Nino fall for him? Hana seemed to be so completely in love with the lord that it seemed impossible.
“I… I did not” Hana admitted softly and then looked guilty for saying so. “I mean… I love my husband now but… I am sorry, you do not wish to hear my small talk. It is just that although we have only known each other a short time, I feel as if I have known you for years…”
“Me to, my lady…” Matsu murmured feeling slightly more hopeful, maybe there were still some of Nino’s memories in there, he thought happily. Hana smiled and then leaned against the rail of the bridge her face paling as her hand went to her stomach. “My lady, are you okay?”
“Yes… I… My baby… He just kicked” She gasped and grabbed his hand placing it on her stomach “Here feel!
“A-a ba-Baby? You’re pregnant?” Matsu gasped as he felt the new life move inside her. Hana blushed letting go of his hand as if realising what she was doing.
“Ah sorry” She said trying to move away from his hand. Matsu was still too shocked to move though. The lord and the lady they never had a baby, he was positive of that. He searched through his mental files trying to find remember his history lessons.
They seemed to be next to useless though as they hadn’t even said anything about the lord Raiden being named Domoto Koichi, or there being a time when the lord and lady didn’t know that they were vampires.
The legend went that the lord and the lady appeared from no-where and created the first vampires. But now, looking at the very obviously human Hana Matsu wasn’t sure what to believe anymore. The baby kicked under his hand bringing Matsu back to his senses and he pulled his hand away.
“I’m sorry my lady, please forgive my rude behaviour” He said bowing.
Hana smiled slight shaking her head “N-No it was my fault… For a moment there it felt so right… Like we had done it before…”
Matsu wanted to tell her that they had but instead he smiled and bowed politely bidding her a good day he ran to his room and sat against the wall looking at his empty wrist he wished he could feel the intertwined hair. It always reassured him when he was worried.
Taking a deep breath he knew he had to keep trying, no matter how hopeless it seemed. Nino was meant to be with him he was sure of it and the Nino he loved was waiting for him to rescue him.
“What would be a good name for a son?” Hana asked softly one day as they were sat in the garden. Matsu wasn’t sure how long he had been here trapped in these memories.
“Raiden” Matsu said without thinking about it too hard. Instead he was thinking of their son at home who was worried about his Mama, and missing both his parents.
“Raiden… Like the lightning god” Hana mused lightly, “Yes, it would suit a boy, ne, and Rosa for a girl” Frustrated Matsu let out a hiss, his eyes un-filtering shining their bright purple
“You… Your eyes…” Hana gasped staring at them, Matsu blinked wildly trying to get them to return to normal “You are him… The man from my dreams…”
“My lady?”
“I dream of you, I dream of you every night… but you call me by a different name…”
“Kazu…”
“Yes… That is it…” She whispered “I love my husband… But every night… No, every day I long to be asleep so I can be with you… My body aches for you, and I do not know why…”
“Because you love me, Kazu, you’re meant to be mine…”
“I am a married woman”
“You are married to me, you’re mine, with have a son together… His name is Raiden… You call him Rai-Rai…”
“You are crazy…”
“I’m not… We’ve been married for two years… But we’ve loved each other for over a 100, my bratty little made vampire… I love you so much, and I’m losing you once again…”
Hana stared at him in wide eyed shock her whole body was trembling. “What you are saying is not possible… How… How could we love each other for so many years?”
“In a few years from now, your husband will change and any love you have for him will become like that of a brother… Then you meet a man named Matsumoto Junichi and you will love each other, you will love each other so much that you will risk everything to be together…” Matsu whispered, needing his Nino back terrified that soon it would be too late.
“And that man is you?”
“Yes… We will have a baby together and then your husband will kill us…”
“Ko-ichi would never…”
“He would and then we will be born into another life in another time and we will met and fall in love again” Matsu said softly tears rolling down his cheeks “But I will lose you again for 100 years…”
“This life you speak of sounds so painful… Who would want such a life?”
“Me, because no matter what life I have I get to have you in it… I don’t care about your past. I know that we are meant to be together even if you’ve had 1000’s of husbands… I know that you will always pick me again…”
“I would?” Hana whispered shakily and Matsu nodded stepping closer to her. Hana didn’t step away but her eyes widened slightly.
“Yes you would.” Matsu said confidently “Because no matter what we are meant to be together, we are two halves of the same soul… Even if I lost you now, I know you’ll come back to me…”
Hana stared at him for a moment and Matsu was almost praying that she believed him, but then her eyes narrowed sharply.
“You are mad…” she hissed pulling away from him and running into the house.
Matsu watched her leave and then collapsed onto the bridge no knowing what to do.
