Matsu woke slowly the next morning, Nino had fallen asleep in the bathroom and he had carried him back ignoring the almost insolent looks of the crew. That night he had been having nightmares of losing Nino. The first one, Nino had just vanished and he was searching the ship looking for him but no matter how hard he search or how loud he shouted he couldn’t find him.

The second had been worse. He shivered slightly pushing the dream away and looked down at Nino “I promise… No matter what I’ll find a way to save you” He whispered kissing Nino’s cheek lightly.

His movement caused the cover to move back to show the Feman’s stomach and chest but he couldn’t stop himself from running a finger over it. Nino twitched and purred, his arms lifting to circle Matsu’s arm but he stayed asleep Matsu smiled and kissed his stomach until Nino opened his eyes.

“Mas-ter?” Nino yawned rubbing his eyes and looking at him with a sleepy smile “Was master kissing Nino…?”

Matsu would have blushed, horrified that someone had seen him acting so sappy but this was Nino, “Yes, I was kissing my little Nino…” He admitted and kissed Nino lightly on the mouth. “Morning Nino”

“Master… Is master really happy that Nino is here with him?” Nino asked chewing his lip worriedly.

“Nino, I am deliriously happy that Nino is here with me… But I am a little worried that something will go wrong…”

“Nino trusts master, master will make sure that Nino is always okay” Nino said shyly putting his hand on the spot Matsu had kissed. Matsu couldn’t believe how one little man could be so adorably cute. Matsu was about to kiss Nino again when there was a loud beeping from his communication device beside his bed.

“What do you want?” He snapped

“Sir, we are approaching Earth, sir…” A voice came back sharply and Matsu rolled his eyes. There really was no love lost between him and his crew. He would blame them but when he had been first assigned to the Arashi he hadn’t made a secret of the fact that he thought it was beneath him.

“Understood” He said and switched it off letting out a sigh almost wishing that he hadn’t been so arrogant back then. He pecked Nino lightly on the mouth “Come on my cute little Feman, do you want to see my home?”

“Yes, Nino gets to see masters home, Nino is happy…”

“It doesn’t take much to make you happy” Matsu laughed pulling on his clothes

“Finding out more about Master… And doing things that Master likes will always make Nino happy master” Nino said almost bouncing on the bed grinning happily at him.

“Nino… We’re going to be together for a… Very long time… I don’t think you should keep calling me master”

Nino cocked his head to one side “But Master is Nino’s master…”

“Is it a part of Feman… Your peoples culture Nino?”

“Master? I am not sure… Master… Is what we call someone important to us, Master” Nino said “Nino’s Mama called Nino’s papa master… and Nino’s sister she had a master too… He was killed when the bad men came… Nino liked him”

“Did they only take women?”

“No, Master… They took… Pr-ett-y boy’s too…” Nino told him slowly “They were trying to take Nino, but Nino’s mama and sister, they saved Nino… They fought bravely to save Nino. But they were captured… If they hadn’t tried to save Nino they would have been safe… Nino wasn’t worth it…”

“Don’t say that, don’t you dare ever say that…” Matsu snapped causing Nino to flinch “Your mama and sister getting taken wasn’t your fault, Nino, it was the bad men that took them… And they obviously thought you were worth it. I think you’re worth it”

“Master is too nice to Nino” Nino said smiling shyly. Matsu smiled

“Nino, if I can I promise that I will try and get your Mama and sister back”

“Does, master know who has them?”

“No, but I am going to talk my council and see if they can find anything out… Taking people is illegal…”

“Thank-you… Master” Nino said licking at his nose his tail flicking happily.

“Nino we should get dressed” Matsu said patting the Feman’s shoulder and Nino nodded running to get his trousers. He was getting better at putting his tail through the hole but he still fell over a few times. After they were dressed and Matsu had checked him for injuries they went to the cockpit.

Nino stood awkwardly near the door looking nervously at the crew as if afraid that they were going to say something again. Matsu grabbed his hand and almost pulled him with him.

“How close?” He asked Gloria who almost fell out of her chair trying to salute him.

“Sh-Should becoming visible soon sir”

“Thank-you… Nino…”

“Yes Master?” Nino said slowly.

Matsu pulled him to an observation platform and waited until the planet came slowly into view. It was once green a blue but now it looked almost silver and black, there were only a few green and blue patches left. But the Feman looked festinated.

 Nino hadn’t watched them leaving Elzren he had been too busy clinging to the bed afraid of the noise the ship had made. Now his eyes and mouth were wide and he slowly stepped towards the glass in his nose was touching it.

“Is that Master’s planet? Where we-tchers and we-zza-rds live?” He asked “It looks like a big flying boat master…”

“I guess it does… It used to look a lot like Elzren once… Or so they tell us in stories…”

“What happened master?”

“People kept building, until there was almost no where left to build, so they built flying boats and looked for new planets that were like earth, like home…”

“Is that why master flies? So he can find a place that he thinks is home?”

“Maybe…” Matsu smiled thoughtfully, he hadn’t really thought of it like that, the Arashi was his home or some kind of ship had been for as long as he could remember.

“So Nino will fly with master until he finds his home…” Nino said snuggling to his chest and giving a soft purr “But at least Master won’t be alone”

Matsu looked around to make sure that they were alone before hugging Nino tightly from behind and holding his hands “No I’ll have my Nino with me…”

Soon Nino’s purrs filled the air and Matsu decided it was time that they started working on something to cover the Feman’s ears.  They went back to their room and Matsu searched through the few clothes he had,

“Nino when we get onto earth we have to hide your ears and tail…” He told Nino who was watching him from the bed

“Why master?”

“Because… your people aren’t allowed on earth, it’s just until we get into my home…”

“Someone said that Aiba doc-ter could remove my ears and tail…”

“What? That’s stupid!” Matsu snapped angry at whoever it was for suggesting it and wondering when they had. “Who said that?”

“Before… When that man said that Nino was a thing… Someone else said that if I was human it would be better… Does master want Nino to get rid of his ears and tail?”

“Don’t be so stupid!” Matsu snapped still angry that someone had implanted that idea into the Feman’s head and wondering how long it had been going around in there. Although he had never said anything maybe it had been bothering Nino this whole time.

 Nino’s eyes widened slight and he curled into a tight ball beside him. “Dammit… Nino… Nino…” Matsu said stroking the Feman’s side regretting being so rough.

There was no familiar purr and Matsu knew he was being ignored “Nino… Nino I didn’t mean that, I don’t think you’re stupid…” he whispered stroking his head now lightly, but Nino hid his face under his arm, refusing to look at him “I like your tail and your ears… They make you cute…” Nino peeked at him slowly with one eye, his tails furious twitching calming slightly,

“Master like’s them?” He whispered and Matsu nodded pulling at his ear lightly

“You’re unlike anyone else I’ve ever met, and your ears and tail are a part of that…”

“So master, even when you are with your own kind again… You won’t forget about me?”

“How could I forget my Nino?”

 “Sorry… Master, Nino is just scared…”

“I know, I’m slightly scared too… But we can do it ne?” Matsu said and Nino nodded beaming happily at him. Matsu really was going to have to have a word with the crew, what with him keeping a Feman and Sakurai wanting to be a ‘stowaway’ the next time he left earth he was pretty much going to be a pirate. But no matter what he was going to find Nino’s mama and sister, hoping that they would know a cure if Aiba couldn’t come up with anything.

He couldn’t live that life with only a half loyal crew.
