Jun almost smiled happily as he watched Nino pulling a face at the fish, they had been in the aquarium for almost an hour and to his amazement Aiba hadn’t said a single word, he could feel him there still but it felt like he was making himself really small in his mind. It was strange that the millionaire seemed to know his way around the aquarium so well but soon he was pulling him towards the sharks, holding his hand tightly.

“You wanted to see them right” Nino said and then stopped his body freezing just slightly before he let go of his hand “Ah sorry…”

“Ohno-san?” Jun asked knowingly and Nino nodded with a sigh

“Yeah, sorry, I promised myself that I wouldn’t think about it” he apologised looking completely annoyed with himself. Jun felt guilty, he should have realised when it took so long to get a reply. Nino would have had places that were special to them, just like he had places that were special to him and Aiba

“You used to come here a lot?”

“No, Samii never came here… He designed it though… All of it… this was Samii’s pet project… He was determined to have as many fish species as possible and sharks… He loved sharks…” Nino murmured, his voice as calm looking around at the kids who were running around excitedly pointing at the fish in the tanks. He shook himself and gave a bright smile “Anyway I’m sorry I brought him up… I was going to make a bet on who got depressed first I’m glad I didn’t, I would have lost…”

“It’s understandable though…I should have released there were places you would have memories…”

“Yeah, but if I avoided all the places I had memories I wouldn’t be able to go to the bathroom… Keeping his memory alive is one thing wallowing in it is another…” Nino shrugged pushing his hair out of his face and doing a full body shake as if he was clearing his mind and his huge bright smile returned

“I don’t know how you do it…  I see a cup that looks like the one Masaki used and I break down…” He sighed and Aiba nodded furiously,

“It wasn’t easy” Nino mumbled and Jun noticed him pulling at the sleeve of his jacket, in a distracted way like he didn’t realise he was doing it “But when all is said and done…Just living in the past isn’t really living…”

“You must see someone like me as pathetic then”

“No, it makes me think that Aiba-chan was something incredible” Nino grinned reassuringly “Anyway since I’ve stopped dragging you around, where do you want to go..?”

“I actually would like to see the sharks” Jun said and was rewarded with another bright Nino grin and he found that he didn’t mind so much when Nino took his hand again and pulled him deeper into the aquarium under the ocean. The sharks were impressive with so many different varieties swimming around them, one was even laying on top of the tube and Jun reached up to ‘stroke’ it’s under belly laughing when Nino couldn’t reach, even on his tiptoes. The millionaire gave a pouting glare and stormed out down the tube like a kid having a tantrum. Jun laughed happily chasing after him and buying him an ice cream to cheer him up. He could feel Aiba’s approval in his mind but still Aiba refused to talk to him.

 After they had spent nearly three hours staring at the fish, Jun realised that he was getting hungry and it was time for their reservations at the restaurant. As soon as they stepped inside and took their seats Jun became aware of how ‘date like’ it had become and Nino gave him a relaxed smile.

“You shouldn’t over think things…” He mumbled studying the menu and Jun tried to relax, he talked about random things, the weather mostly and he could feel Aiba’s disapproval but he honestly couldn’t think of anything else to say that wouldn’t lead back to Aiba or Ohno.

“Have you been playing the game?” Nino asked and Jun gave an internal sigh of relief though he wasn’t completely sure how to answer. Last night he had put the game on but he had just played the title sequence, where Nino was singing to play over and over. He hadn’t meant to but something about the voice had made it impossible to click load.

“Sort of I played it a little last night” Jun lied, ignoring Aiba’s muffled scoff, Jun could picture him putting his hands over his mouth quickly.

“Liar” Nino grinned “It’s okay if you don’t like it…”

“No I do… It’s just I really like the song that was playing…”

“Are you trying to flatter me? My heart’s all a flutter” Nino laughed his eyes flashing teasingly while Jun gave an embarrassed smile, his cheeks flushing lightly, everything seemed so easy with Nino and that amazed him.

“See, Jun” Aiba whispered “I told you that you will be okay” Jun didn’t answer and very slowly they continued to eat their meals. After they had finished the main course and ordered dessert Nino asked if he had a photo of Aiba and very slowly Jun pulled one out of his wallet and handed it to him. “He’s really cute…” Nino said smiling as he handed the photo back to him “I went to visit him yesterday”

“You went to see him?” Jun muttered unable to believe how nice this guy was too him even if he was a brat too

“I want to greet his stone, I hope you don’t mind, it’s in the same churchyard as Samii’s… I went and told him that we were kind of friends and I said I couldn’t understand why he would be interested in you since you’re weird oh and I asked if he would look after Samii…”

“He went to greet me!?” Aiba said unable to contain his excitement “That is so sweet...”

“That was nice of you” Jun managed and Nino shrugged

“Hmm, I remembered that I had seen the name before… I must have seen it one time when I went to visit Samii, it was silly really he wouldn’t be there neither of them are”

“Where do you think they are then?”

“I’m here!” Aiba said and Matsu smiled to himself while waiting for Nino’s answer.

“Samii would be fishing somewhere” Nino said confidently picking up his spoon and eyeing the banoffee pie that had just been brought.

“You don’t think he’d be watching over you?” Jun asked still trying to understand how Nino could be so confident about everything

“No… I know he will be watching me” his companion answered, and then stopped speaking as he devoured the pie for a while, Jun started eating his own dessert waiting for him to speak again. “I lied before I made it sound so easy but the truth is… Samii helped me…”

“How?” Jun asked wondering if by some miracle he had been able to talk to Ohno. He could feel Aiba inching closer too, his excitement bubbling as he waited for the answer. Nino chewed his lip for a while and then gave a sigh deciding that he could be trusted.

“I saw him once about half a year after his death, after I tried to kill myself” He said finally as if it was the most obvious thing in the world to do “I got completely drunk and slit my wrists… While I was laying there I saw Samii… He came into the room, and he held my wrists tightly… He didn’t say anything but he looked so disappointed in me, I’d never seen him look that way at me before… And don’t tell me that it was just a dream, I had enough shrinks telling me that…”

“I wasn’t going to…” Jun said his hand going to play with the locket around his neck. He talked to Aiba everyday he wasn’t going to say that Ohno wouldn’t have come to Nino when he needed him most. “So he saved you?”

“Yes, the ambulance said they received an anonymous tip…” Nino said eating the rest of his banoffee  pie. “He waited with me until they came, and when I woke up in the hospital he was sat beside my bed, he said that he was sorry that he left me but he didn’t want to see me so soon... I know how it sounds… And you don’t have to believe me…”

“I do believe you…” Jun said and Nino smiled gratefully

“I somehow thought you would” he whispered “After the shrinks you’re the only person I’ve told that too… Thanks for listening…”

“I owe you…” Jun told him and for some reason he felt even closer to the millionaire and he rather liked that feeling.
