A/N: This takes place during the events of Lover’s in the dark, about a month after their first weekend alone together.

Jun relaxed by the pool watching as Masaki either trying to drown Sho or was trying to sit on his shoulders. So far the first seemed more likely. Satoshi was sleeping in the lounge chair next to him and Kazu was focusing on his games machine in the shade close to him. He had been thoroughly smeared head to toe in factor 50 sun lotions and the faint coconut smell was filling Jun’s senses. In the back ground Jun could hear the faint sound of the ocean and he wondered for a moment why there was a swimming pool when they were so close to the ocean. For them it was good because Kazu had hated the ocean ever since they were young.

Their aunt had invited them all out on her and their uncle’s boat. As always her kids had been little shits taking the piss out of Kazu. Kazu gone to hide near the stern of the boat, and their cousin had pushed him and was calling him a stupid coward. All of the brothers had tried to stop him but all they had heard was a loud splash and Kazu had vanished. He wasn’t in the water for long, just as long as it took Masaki and Satoshi to dive in a pull him out and for Sho to nearly break their cousin’s neck but Kazu had swallowed a lot of water and without the aid of their uncle’s first aid skills they might have lost him that day. Since then Kazu had had a huge fear of the ocean that had manifested its self in an acute sea sickness. That was the only time Jun had seen his cousin punished for bullying Kazu and that had been by their uncle who gave him a loud painful slap around the face. Their aunt had filed for divorce a week later, she truly was a stupid woman, Jun thought as there was a splashing in the water indicating that Masaki had fallen down from Sho’s shoulders and fell head first into the clear blue water of the pool.

Kazu let out a laugh and Jun noticed that he had put down his games to watch the twins antics as they had now started their own water war. Masaki was always good for a laugh and Sho was always prepared to be his sidekick no matter how stupid it made the very smart student look and it was on days like these that you could tell that they were very clearly twins. Jun had stopped paying attention to his older brother’s though and was now only looking at Kazu, transfixed on how much cuter his face looked in the sunlight, his eyes were shining as his small hand went to cover his mouth when he laughed. With a groan Jun realised that his eyes were the only thing to notice how cute he was looking and making a judgement call he dive bombed into the water the splash going up to splash over Satoshi. His older brother’s eyes flew open and he sat up in a hurry

“Whasup?” He said rubbing sleeping from his eyes seemingly not noticing that he was covered in water. Jun laughed splashing him again and with a good natured hiss Satoshi also jumped into the water. Jun wanted Kazu to join them too but he stayed in the shade continuing to laugh as he started rocking forwards and backwards indicating that he was enjoying himself. Their parents came out from the house carrying a tray of fruity drinks with ice and they started laughing at their four sons too. Kazu took the yellow drink that was offered sipping it slowly through the straw, Jun swam to the edge taking a purple/pink drink

“Don’t you want to join them Kazu?” Their father asked as he sat in the lounger that Jun had been sitting in. Kazu shook his head his rocking stopping as he started to play about with the ice in his glass. Jun knew that their father was only trying to get to know his son but half of him wished that he would be more… Aware to the changes Kazu showed. “Why not? Don’t you know how to swim? Papa will show you…”

“N-o… I’m… fin-e” Kazu murmured “I w-an-t to pla-y my g-am-e…”

“You can play your game any time” Mr Maiga said trying to take the machine off of him and Kazu’s unhappy jerky rocking started. As soon as they saw it all four brothers got out of the pool afraid that Kazu would get too upset. The machine dropped from his hands and Kazu stood up quickly the drink going everywhere as he turned on his heel and ran into the house. “What did I do wrong this time?” Mr Maiga asked his other children and wife who all looked at each other before his wife said softly

“You were too forceful, Kazu will do things in his own time, you can’t rush him” She too looked around at her sons as if asking them if that was right. Satoshi, Sho and Masaki nodded and Jun gave frown putting his drink don before running into the house and heading up to the bedroom he was sharing with Kazu. Kazu was in the centre of the bed looking tiny against the big mattress. Jun could also see that he was looking tearful and pale.

“Kazu-nii… Are you okay?” He asked carefully in case one or all of the others had followed him, Kazu looked up from the bed and slowly held his arms open to him. Smiling Jun went to fill them hugging his brother tightly, feeling special that his was allowed to be this way with him. Those with similar problems to Kazu didn’t enjoy having their skin being touched very often. Kazu wasn’t too bad that simple touching would send him over the edge but in their family the only other person allowed to hug him like this was Satoshi.

“Pa-pa… Mu-s-t ha-t-e m-e” Kazu said shakily against his skin and Jun denied that quickly

“No, that isn’t true! Dad is just trying to get to know you” he said stroking his hand down the back on the thin t-shirt. “He just wants to know the kinds of things Kazu likes”

“I th-in-k h-e wi-sh-es I w-as li-k-e ev-er-yon-e els-e”

“Kazu, is a million times better than us”

“Bu-t I’m n-ot n-orm-al li-ke y-ou a-ll ar-e” Kazu mumbled and Jun resisted a sigh as he wished yet again that he could find a way to prove to Kazu just how amazing he was

“Nope, you’re not the same as we are” He said and Kazu flinched trying to pull away but Jun held him fast whispering in his ear “You’re not the same as us because you’re not boring like the rest of us are, none of us can get through the worlds on Mario in half a minute, or do the magic tricks that you can…” Jun told him and Kazu looked up into his face and Jun gently stroked his cheek with his fingers.

“J i-sn’t bo-rin-g ei-th-er…” He told him and Jun flashed him a huge smile and very quickly kissed his cheek. “J, if I s-ho-w dad a ma-gic tri-ck… Will t-hat m-ake h-im h-app-y?”

“I think it would make him very happy…” Jun nodded grinning, knowing how true that was, he knew his father wanted to try and connect with Kazu. Each of the brothers had their own ways of connecting to him, but their parents ad always found it more difficult.

“i-ll you hel-p m-e do i-t?”

“Of course I will, I just hope I won’t mess it up” Jun said, genuinely fearful that he would ruin everything and Kazu would completely hate him. Kazu gave a giggle and Jun tried not to think of how much he loved that sound. “So when do we start practicing?”
