Jun hissed angrily, wanting to storm out of the apartment but found himself being held tightly by the sand eared Satoshi

“Wait”

“Wait for what? Don’t tell me you believe this?” Jun asked rolling his eyes trying to pull his arm away, “He’s just a slut and more than likely isn’t really fated to either of us”

“I don’t know… But it was weird earlier, in the café, I was upset but I didn’t have a reaction to Kazu… It was like I wasn’t seeing my life mate…”

“So you really are swallowing all this bullcrap” Jun hissed angrily, wondering why someone could believe such a stupid story.

“Jun, you know that it doesn’t work like that” Sho murmured and Jun tried not to growl at his boss, even if he didn’t have a life mate he still wanted a job at the end of the night. “If you reacted to him, he reacted to you so he is fated to both of you…”

“None of this can be real…” He snapped unable to stop himself, this was too far removed from the life he wanted, he didn’t want any of it to be real, but at the same time he did, just this one evening with Nino and he was almost happy that Nino was the one that had been picked for him. Even though he was a boy and a simpleton, he had to agree that Nino was perfect, even down to the way he said ‘Ny-an’ everything about him was too adorable and now he was being told that Nino was just half of a person “I’m leaving…”

“Maybe… Or maybe you should hang around for Kazu to um… Get back and see if you have a reaction…” Satoshi suggested and Jun let out a scoffing laugh, his tail flicking angrily, even if it was true what were they going to do? They couldn’t share him, even the end though he gave a huff and sat back down.

“So how long does it normally take?” he asked looking about and Masaki shrugged, looking at the bedroom door

“I don’t know… I don’t even know if he’ll be Kazu or Nino when he wakes up… It’s completely unpredictable…”

“So what I just have to wait around here?” Jun grumbled, “What am I supposed to do… I have a job…”

“I think you’re due sometime off… And I’m sure that your boss isn’t that much of a slave driver, I’m sure Kai can handle whatever you have going” Sho said with a laugh and Jun looked at his face wondering how much of this as going to be spread around the office, he was just going to be another big time joke. The only Nekoman in his age group not to have a fated mate that was just perfect, he thought tempted to kick the glass coffee table, the fates really did seem to be playing a huge practical joke on him and Satoshi. He looked at the sandy eared Nekoman amazed that after everything he could be so calm and almost reasonable about this. “I think that maybe you two should talk without me and Masaki…If you have any more questions…We’ll answer them later…”

Jun just grunted as his boss and Masaki left but Satoshi said goodnight properly, an easy smile on his face.

“How can you be calm about this?” Jun asked and Satoshi shrugged

“I guess its because I never expected to be paired…”

“What? Everybody has their fated match”

“Hmm, I heard that but I didn’t think anyone would be paired up with me… I was surprised when I met up with Kazu and I realised we were fated…”

“And you’re not in the least bit angry about the way this has all played out?”

“Not really, It’s not Kazu’s fault nor is it Nino’s fault ne?” Satoshi shrugged looking at his reflection in the glass of the table, he knew that Kazu was his real fated mate, that person in the café may have looked like him but it wasn’t him and if this story about him having a multiple personality was true, he guessed that he could treat it like they were twins or something. They were joined by the fates after all, fated mates and that meant that everything would work out or the fated system was flawed.

“That’s if its true”

“I don’t think Masaki-kun would lie, when he got the phone call he seemed worried…”

“You were here?” Jun asked with surprise, wondering how he was tied into all this mess in the first place.

“Yes, I was having dinner with Sho and Masaki… Masaki-kun had told me to stay away from Kazu, I guess I understand why now… He was trying to protect his friend…”

“So how did you meet Nino?” Jun sighed leaning back against the sofa, his body overcome with wariness as he tried to figure out his next move.

“I met him tonight in the café…” Satoshi murmured with a smile, and watched Jun roll his eyes his tail flicking with anger “I met Kazu last night… At the party for Sho and Masaki… Sho’s my best friend”

“I see…” Jun whispered closing his eyes thoughtfully, Nino had said he didn’t remember the party, so maybe if this Nino/Kazu thing was true then maybe that’s because it was Kazu that had been at the party. “Seriously how the hell can you be so calm about this?”

“The fates don’t make a mistake so that means this was meant to happen, I don’t believe that Kazu is playing me… And I wasn’t bonded to Nino so I believe what Masaki is saying is the truth… That’s why I told you to stay and meet Kazu then maybe you would realise that too”

“Okay so if all of this is true and Kazu and Nino are two separate people in one body then what? What happens then? We time share? We all move in together…”

“We think of them as being twins and we do what’s best for our life mates” Satoshi said slowly, in his heart though he had no idea where he was getting the courage to say all of this. He was terrified of the way his mum… And to a lesser extent his dad was going to react to this news, but for some reason when he pictured Kazu and the smile he’d given him when he’d kissed his nose it felt easy. He wanted to be with Kazu, and when he thought that it all became that simple to him. In his heart Satoshi suspected that Jun would feel the same once he had calmed down. Right now his pride was hurt because he was confused.

Jun stared at Satoshi in mute amazement and Satoshi gave another embarrassed smile his cheeks flushing as he calmly scratched his ear. Everything he was saying about the fates was true, every kitten was taught that in school, the fates never made a mistake, so if he was going to believe that then he was going to have to accept that he was meant to be with Nino and he was meant to be a part of this mess. He gave another irritated flick of the tail looking at the door Masaki had taken Nino into and was surprised to find it opening and Nino was coming out.

The small Nekoman yawned loudly scratching his belly and both Satoshi and Jun watched with interest. Satoshi felt his heart racing against his ribs and he gave a purr

“Kazu” He said and Kazu beamed at him and came flying, ignoring Jun on the sofa, Jun frowned as he looked at Nino realising that Satoshi had been right, there was no reaction what’s so ever to the Nekoman in front of him.

“Sato-chan? What are you doing here?” Kazu asked throwing his arms around the Nekoman’s neck and kissing his nose.

“Masaki said it would be okay if I waited here…” Satoshi answered stroking his fated mates white ear “I just wanted to prove something to my friend…”

“Okay… Nice to meet you Sato-chan’s friend, I’m Kazu Ninomiya…” Kazu said with a grin holding out his hand and Satoshi looked at Jun waited for his reaction.

Slowly Jun gave a sigh flashing Satoshi a ‘we’re going to have to sort this out later’ look before taking the offered hand, he had no idea what was going on but there was no way this Kazu was his Nino “Jun Matsumoto…” and he knew that somewhere far away the fates were laughing.
