“Doesn’t it bother you that I’m gay?” Jun asked after Aiba had left and Nino shrugged shaking his head. It didn’t bother him much, but then again it wasn’t something that he’d thought about, he had always been a little confident that Aiba was gay, so when he had found out about his crush on the teacher he hadn’t even been fazed by it. The only issue he had with Jun being openly gay was the odd feelings it was making him feel, he had never really thought about sex before, he would find some of the girl’s pretty but only as much as he would find a painting pretty. He looked at Jun who was watching him calmly and decided that he thought he was cute, his face was still childish but there were already glimpses of the man that he was going to be. Nino licked his lips pulling his eyes away when there was a knock on the door.

“Hello?” He called moving away from Jun and standing beside the bunk beds. The door opened the matron stepped inside

“Kazunari-kun, your patron is here to see you…” She said softly and Nino felt his body tense aware that Jun was still watching him. He gave a nod and the matron gave him an understanding smile

“I’ll be right back Jun” He mumbled following her out. He followed her to the lounge room and then step inside alone. His ‘Patron’ was the female doctor that had been there the day he had woken up in hospital, she had tried to adopt him a few times over the years but Nino had protested loudly and the matron had made sure her application had been refused but every few weeks she visited him and sent a letter every week. He didn’t know why she did it but over the years he had begrudgingly gotten used to it

“Good afternoon, Nino-chan” She smiled as he came in and Nino gave a tight one in reply “I’m not interrupting your lessons am I?”

“No, I was given the day off”

“Another fight?”

“I didn’t start it” Nino mumbled quickly, “Plus it’s not an even a punishment…”

“I didn’t say anything” The doctor laughed holding up her hands before reaching into her bag and pulling out three games. “Here I got you these”

“Why?” Nino asked slowly, though he was almost drooling at the sight of new games.

“Because you have to be sick of that one game that came with the machine… I asked the man at the shop for some good games… He suggested these… If you don’t like them I can change them for something else” She said and quickly Nino took them, he had only seen them advertised a few times on t.v but he had to admit that he really wanted to play them

“Thank-you…” He said noticing the ring on her finger for the first time and realising what it meant “You’re getting married?”

“Yeah, in a month… He asked me two weeks ago…” She smiled

“So you don’t believe in long engagements?” Nino mumbled thinking that this was really going to change things, deep down one of the reasons that he had refused to be adopted by her was because he was afraid that she would get married and he would be pushed out.

“No, we’re moving to Tokyo a week after the wedding…” She whispered and Nino felt his heart thud painfully against his ribs “Kazu I want to try and convince you to let me adopt you… My fiancé is a good man and he wants you in our family…”

“Why you’ll have kids of your own…”

“Doesn’t mean I don’t want you, Kazu… I could never replace your mother but please…”

“I can’t, I’m sorry, I’m happy for you but I can’t” Nino mumbled thinking about Aiba and Jun how could he leave “What’s his name? This good man?”

“Ohno Satoshi, his a paediatrician in my hospital… He’s outside if you want to meet him…” She answered with a grin and Nino nodded, he had a major distrust of adult males but he wanted to make sure this man was okay for his… Friend. Honda called her fiancé on her phone before while Nino studied the games in his hands more out of nerves than because he wanted to, and a few minutes later a sleepy looking overly tanned man came into the room smiling almost shyly at him. It only took ten minutes to realise that Ohno was a man that would treat Honda as an equal and when she had asked him to live with them again he was almost tempted but he couldn’t leave Jun, Jun needed him. “Then at least come to our wedding… Please, Kazu…” She murmured sadly taking out an invitation from her bag and handing it to him

“Can I bring my friends?” He asked looking at the fancy white and gold invitation reading the date and time carefully and they both nodded with matching warm smiles

“Yes… We’ll come back this week and take you shopping for suits...I'm sue I can convince the matron” She beamed and for the first time she hugged him tightly whispering “Thank-you” in his ear.

Nino took the games and invitation and went back into his room feeling guilty that he had left him on his own for so long. Jun was sleeping peacefully when he arrived back and Nino gave small smile stroking the hair out of the younger guys face before he could stop himself. He pulled his hand back quickly when he realised what he was doing and went to get his Nintendo. He sat cross legged on the floor and put in the first of the games, turning the sound down so he didn’t disturb Jun. His stomach buzzed with excitement as he looked at the title screen of the new game, he almost bounced up down as he clicked ‘Start New Game’ option. Soon he was lost in his pixelated world and he only became aware that Jun had woken up because the sounds of a small giggle reached him. He blinked pausing the game and looking up at his roommate, Jun had an almost real smile on his face as he rubbed sleep from his eyes,

“What?” Nino grumbled, he blushed a little when he felt his heart thumping against his ribs “I haven’t played this game before…”

“You still haven’t changed, Nino-chan” Jun mumbled and this time Nino finally put the game down

“Huh…” He started but Jun shuffled off his bed throwing himself at him, hugging him tightly

“I can’t believe that it really is you…”

“Did you get a smack on the head when I wasn’t here or something” Nino mumbled but he didn’t pull out of the hug, just sighed as him wondering how it had taken him this long to remember.

“It is you right? You used to live in the apartment with the blue door…” Jun said pulling back and chewing his lip with a little uncertainty.

“I don’t remember a blue door, but I do remember a whiny little brat that kept making me eat his chocolate bars and play on his games” Nino said in a mumble wanting to be able to keep his cool. Jun gave another shout hugging him again,

“I wanted to visit you but nobody would tell me where you were…”

“I asked people not to let you know…And I wished that… I wished I would never have to see you in here Jun…” Nino mumbled wrapping his arms around the younger guys slight frame and holding him close “I’m sorry about your parent’s Jun…” he said against his shoulder. Jun cried again, and then they went out to the common room to the ping pong table. Nino couldn’t time how long they were on it, but nobody told them to get off, not wanting to face Nino’s wraith. Chinese food night was always welcomed and there was the normal relaxed atmosphere in the common room, though Nino and Jun just stayed with Aiba. He noticed that his friend was shifting around in his chair more than normal, his eyes flicking to the clock more times than was necessary. He wasn’t an idiot he knew something was going on with his friend and he wanted to know what.
