Nino ran his tongue over his lips, his chest pounding against his chest as he looked at his friend, against him he felt Jun tremble a little and they both blushed hotly and Nino gave a choked cough trying to find something to say. He got up from the bed quickly and fumbling around with his games machine that was on his bedside table. He looked at Jun and saw that he was biting his lips with a shocked and scared expression on his face, he hated himself for putting him in this position and wished that he could apologise quickly not wanting him to start hating him over this, he had asked for time and he was just rushing him.

“So… Um…” Aiba was stuttering behind him and Nino almost couldn’t bring himself to look around. Slowly he took a deep breath and turned around his hands trembling “So… You… Um…”

“Look this isn’t a big deal right Ai-baka?” He said in a soft shaky voice hating the fact that it would be obvious that he was nervous. He hated not having control on his emotions.  

“So are you dating? But you’ve only just met!” Aiba asked, and Nino sighed thinking that it was a justified comment, like Jun had said they only had just met again

“We’re not dating” He answered quickly, giving Jun a sidewise look nerves curling around in his chest “I think that I like Jun but… Um we need some time to think about it… You… Don’t… Um…”

He broke off unsure what he was trying to say irritated that his voice was trembling more than ever Last night when Aiba had been having doubts about himself he had found it easy to say a lot words trying to make him feel better but now he felt lost he was honestly surprised when Aiba gave a big grin.

“Well if you ever need time to figure it out, just tell me and I promise that I’ll get out of your way” He said brightly, and Nino felt torn between hitting and hugging him though he was a little doubtful about the gleam that had entered his friends face.  

“Masaki, even if you’re an idiot I am glad you’re my friend” Nino told him trying not to keep his voice level not wanting to sound to embarrassing. Giving a cough he brushed his finger through his hair needing to get of there before he started giving out hugs or something. He grabbed his toothbrush from his wash basket “Well I need the toilet…”

“Me too” Jun whispered “Can I come to lessons today?”

“Are you sure you’re up for it?” Nino asked immediately, jumping around to face him and waving his toothbrush without realising it, worried about what people were going to say about them,

“I… If you’re going to then I want to,” Jun said and Nino realised that there really wasn’t much confidence in his voice and when he looked at him doubtfully, he saw that his lips were trembling slightly with fear. He guessed that Aiba must have thought that Jun wasn’t ready to because he said.

 “MatsuJun, I don’t think you should” Nino gave a quick nod of support at his side, folding his arms across his chest and tapping his tooth brush against his arm “Next week…”

“Please I don’t want to sit around on my own…” Jun pleaded and Nino felt his resistance almost crumble instantly as he looked at him.

“I’ll lend you my game” He said quickly shooting a glare at Aiba as he let out a startled overly dramatic gasp.

“Even if it’s only for the half the day I’d rather be with you… Two,” Jun said and Nino blushed when Jun quickly added the ‘two’ even though he was staring straight at him “I feel better when I’m with you…”

Nino felt his tiny last bit of resistance slipping away at those muffled words and he let out a heavy sigh his hands falling to his sides a feeling

“Fine…” he said with a ‘you win’ tone of voice, almost jumping with shock when Aiba let out a loud whistle and clapped his hands

“Wow, MatsuJun has to teach me that” He giggled his eyes on the youngest guy’s face. Nino’s eyes narrowed sensing where this was going. Jun though looked puzzled and Aiba gave another hearty laugh patting his shoulder “The power to tame Ninomiya Kazunari… I’ll have to study this later…”

“I’m not some kind of wild animal, Ai-baka” Nino snapped hitting him painfully on the head with his slipper but still Aiba laughed and Nino couldn’t help the blush that formed on his face, he couldn’t help the way Jun managed to slip through his defences so easily like that. Not wanting Aiba to be able to tease them anymore he grabbed Jun’s hand and pulled him out of the room.

They walked in silence to the bathroom, as Nino tried to find a way of apologising for kissing him, but groups of residents kept running past them and he couldn’t find an opportunity until they made it into the bathroom and the few stragglers that were still inside gave them startled looks and pushed past them. 

“They’ll get over it” Nino mumbled when he saw the look of pain in Jun’s face “About the kiss…”

“… It was nice…” Jun whispered looking at the tap while playing with his toothbrush. “Have… Have you done… Have you kissed… anyone before?”  

“N-no” Nino answered quickly and truthfully, his cheeks flushing “Have you?”

“Nope… Nino is my first kiss…” Jun’s voice was almost inaudible against the dripping of the tap and Nino’s ears burned with his blush. Awkwardly he stood next to him by the sink looking at him through the mirror as their brushed their teeth. For some reason their arms banged together more than was necessary and even when they swapped sides their fingers brushed against each other and more than once Jun caught him giving him small secret smiles through the mirror. They went back to their room, so close they looked like they were holding hands, Nino pushed open his room door and was surprised to see Aiba grinning like an idiot of some paper that he stuffed into his bag as soon as he realised that somebody was watching.

“What was that?” Nino asked eyeing him suspiciously as started pulling uniform on and Jun did the same, he was surprised when Aiba blushed

“Just… that extra homework… For Sakurai-sensei” He stumbled half truthfully Nino clicked his tongue knowing that he was lying. “I’m going to get us some breakfast and save us a seat…”

Nino wanted to stop him and question him more but after what he had seen between him and Jun that morning he really didn’t want to upset his friend so he just teased him with,

“What is it, is Sakurai-sensei on breakfast duty again?”

Aiba blush was rather funny as he bolted out of the door but looking at Jun any other thoughts left his mind. It was the first time he had seen Jun in the orphanage uniform and although he was just dressed in the same uniform as all of the other guys, Nino thought that he looked even more lost an alone and unable to stop himself he pulled Jun against him holding him tightly breathing against his ear. “No matter what, I’m by your side Jun, I won’t let anyone say anything about you… Understand?” He said and Jun nodded his arms wrapping around him for a few minutes before the sound of the final breakfast bell sounded and they pulled apart and made their way to the breakfast room, arriving just as Aiba seemed to be apologising to food lady and the matron for something involving fruit juice. Nino stared at Umeda’s face and caught her smirking when the matron moved away, anger filled his chest. He told Jun to go and sit down and then slipped back out of the cafeteria. Nobody was going to get away with messing with his friend he thought rubbing his hands together almost like a Bond villain.
