"Now... Remember what I said but above anything else… Remember to be careful okay?" Nino told Mayo as they came out of the kitchen area. His little girl nodded clutching the letter Nino had just given her tightly to her chest. Nino could see there was a small amount of fear in the little girl’s eyes and very quickly he pulled her into a hug stroking the beautiful waves of her hair. He tempted to forget the whole plan he had just told his adopted daughter.

“I’ll do it papa… I’ll be okay!” She said with more confidence in her voice than he was feeling. He kissed the top of her forehead and touched the relic around her neck, telling himself that it was going to be okay. "You" he snapped to one of the vampires his mother had brought with her and the vampire jumped to attention

"Gii" he said with a nod and Nino remembered that he had seen him once or twice in his father’s tower.

"I see, nice to meet you Gii... From today and until the day you die you are now my daughters guardian... Understand?" Nino said and Gii glanced at the girl before nodding quickly "You are to stay here with her and the other children after we leave, when we are no longer in sight only then will Mayo-chan will tell you what you have to do... If anything happens to her... You'd better pray you're already dead..." Nino snapped and Gii nodded again, gulping a little

"Yes sir" he said falling into place beside Mayo. The little girl gave a small nervous giggle looking up at her newly appointed guardian and Nino stroked her head again. He hated himself for doing this but there was no other way, his father would know that his mother was no longer in his coven and not were any other vampires that travelled with her, he would be mobilising his army. They had lingered too long because of Jun's unique changing but now there was only Ohno and Aiba left his mother and Sakurai were upstairs with their partners now and they were already coming around. He didn't want any harm to come to his Mayo, although he should be amazed that in such a short time she had wrapped him so easily around her finger but since that first day she had reminded him of his Jun and since he was already tied firmly around his finger it made sense.

"Nino..." Jun mumbled now, and Nino turned to smile at him, wanting him to know that it was okay. Even if nerves were coiled like snakes in his stomach and he had a strong sense of foreboding that they were going to fail he wouldn’t… He couldn’t let his lover know that. Jun was doing so well, Nino could feel that his lover was almost completely back to him but that meant he was beginning to remember.  While Nino was talking to the little girl Jun’s brain had shut down in almost fitful sleep. Nino’s own brain had been flooded with the images that had filled his lover’s brain. Images of his father’s attack and more he could almost feel the pain and fear that Jun had felt. It fed his anger but he had to try and keep his judgement, so many people were counting on him.  “Kazu… are yo-u… okay?” Jun asked and Nino nodded quickly pecking at his lips.

“I’m fine… Are you hungry baby?” He asked trying to distract him from asking too many questions. The little everybody knew about what he had asked Mayo to do the safer she would be  and the be better it would be for everybody. Jun gave a nod and Nino took his hand leaving Mayo to ask Gii more questions than would be asked at a job interview, to his credit the guardian was doing his best to answer them as clearly as he could. As they went into the kitchen and moved back his hair Jun stroked at the vain in his neck his eyes becoming cloudy and unfocused as his tongue darted over his lips.

“What are you getting Mayo to do?” Jun thought as his teeth sank into his neck and Nino shook his head, picking up his hand and biting at his wrist sucking hungrily at the blood that flowed free

“I can’t tell you that J, it will be safer for Mayo-chan if you don’t know” Nino thought back quickly closing of a part of his brain and shoving the details of Mayo’s mission in there. “And before you even think it, I do trust you… But my father has two mind readers and in the heat of battle you won’t be able to control your thoughts…”

“At least tell me one thing…Is it dangerous?” Jun said his mouth stopping on his neck and Nino licked at his wrist

“Yes, and I hate myself for putting her in danger but I think it’s the only way…” he answered dropping the arm and looking into his eyes “She has the relic and Gii would die before any harm comes to her...”

“How do you know?”

“Because it’s like I told him if anything happens to her he’d better be dead first…” Nino whispered darkly.

“What… What is it about her?” Jun asked looking at him with amazement that Nino should be feeling.

“She reminds me of Jun, when you first came to me… Not afraid of me...” Nino mumbled playing with the already healing holes on Jun’s wrist.

“I never realised how much that meant to you...” Jun’s thought’s came out in a mumble and he kissed him. Nino gave a laugh stroking his healed neck. “I love you…”

“I love you too J… I better go check on Aiba and Ohno…” Nino sighed he really needed them to be over the change they had to move out as soon as possible.

“Kazu, I keep seeing you as a child… Did you know Aiba in any way?” Jun asked and Nino shook his head biting at his lip.

“I’m not sure… Ever since I drank his blood I’ve been thinking that I’ve seen him somewhere before but I have an Eidetic memory I recall every image I’ve ever seen… I can’t understand why… We can figure it out later…” Nino shrugged running his fingers over face before kissing his nose “Spend some time with Mayo…”

“Kazu…” Jun said but Nino just smiled running out of the kitchen and vanishing up the stairs. Ohno was sat up his eyes a ruby colour but they were more focused than Jun’s had been at this stage in the change. Aiba was a little less focused, he was in a seated position but his head was slumped against Sakurai and he had a film of sweat clinging to his skin. Sakurai was murmuring something in his ear.

“Aiba… Are you okay?” Nino asked softly and the bleached blonde looked up at him his eyes blinking rapidly as if trying to push away the fuzziness he must be feeling.

“I’ll… Be fine…” Aiba said his voice was gravely like it had been scratched with sand paper. “Thank-yo-u”

“I didn’t do anything…” Nino smiled looking up at the maker “How long will it be before you can move?”

“A day…” Sakurai answered and Nino nodded but he couldn’t help but think that they were pushing it. “I won’t risk Ma-chan by moving out early”

“I understand… But I think we need to go over the plan” Nino mumbled “Aiba and Oh-chan don’t need to be there but I need you and Aoi” His eyes flicked to his mum. He felt uncomfortable calling her by her name but she was his second in command he really didn’t want to call her ‘mum’. Aoi gave a smile kissing her husband’s head and getting to her feet.

“As you wish, leader…” She said “I will summon your coven…”

“And tell all of the children except Mayo to go into the basement…” Nino told her and she nodded hurrying out of the room. Ohno found his way to Aiba and they rested against each other as Nino and Sakurai left the room.
