Set deep into the future of the blue moon universe…

“I’m getting married” Rabbit shouted skidding into the room where her papas were either making out or having a wrestling session on the living room floor. She was eighteen now and had just graduated high school and all of her family told her that she had become a beautiful young woman. Her hair was no longer worn in the ‘rabbit ears’ on her head but pulled into a rough bun on the back of her head. She would have had it all cut off but her grandma liked her to have the long hair. Sometimes when she wore it loose, letting it flow down her back like a silky black river she could easily pass for a girly girl if it wasn’t for the baseball jersey, torn jeans and army boots that were her trademark style. Today her boyfriend Yuuki Matsumoto-Aiba had just asked her to marry him and she couldn’t be happier. They had been together since her Uncle-Jun and Uncle-Masaki had adopted him when he was ten. He was the most beautiful man that she had ever seen, with almost silver eyes and light brown almost blonde hair.

Her papas stopped whatever it was they were doing to look up at her matching flushes in both their cheeks, people still made fun of her sometimes for having two papas but she didn’t care her papas loved her and that was all that mattered in her mind.

“He finally popped the question? Even after making that pinkie promise when you were thirteen he took his time ne” Papa-Kazu teased, his face shining with a mixture of happiness and sadness as he got to his feet.  Rabbit nodded beaming brightly at him and Kazu pulled her into a hug. “Congratulations!” He said happily and Rabbit smiled against him she was a clear few inches taller than him now but Rabbit tilted her head to he could kiss it. It had been so many years since her papa-Kazu had been taken by the ‘bad man’ and it had taken them all a long time to get over the damage that had been caused but Rabbit knew now that they were stronger for it. He had left the Blue moon club three years after he had returned and was now a fully licenced therapist his speciality victims of rape.

Soon another pair of arms was wrapped around them both and Rabbit smiled at the smiling face of her papa-Satoshi who kissed her cheek

“Congratulations, Rabbit” He said while his hand stroked papa-Kazu’s back. Papa-Satoshi had joined and eventually taken over his mother’s law firm and was now one of the biggest names in criminal law but even after all of that they still all lived in their sleepy two bedroomed house.

“Okay… We have to go out and celebrate…” papa-Kazu said quickly wiping his eye and Rabbit nodded, chewing her lip a little, she had promised Yuuki that she would go out with him tonight “Come on just because you’re engaged doesn’t mean you can still go out with your papas for ice cream, Yuuki-kun can meet you there later…”

“Okay, papa I’ll tell him” She said with a smile and a nod and soon she was being tugged along by her papas to the ice cream shop in the park.

Nino smiled as he watched his little… Grown up, Rabbit eating a banana split with a huge smile on her face. The years had been good to her changing her from an awkward and tomboyish little girl to a beautiful woman, her warm and giving personality hadn’t changed though and every weekend she and Yuuki helped out at the orphanage that had raised them. He had known since he had first seen the pair of them together that one day he would be the one that would take her away from him and Ohno. Hell Jun probably even had the wedding all planed out. No all he would have to do was say goodbye to his angel, he felt Ohno’s thigh rub against his and he pulled his eyes away from Rabbit to look at the man that had brought so much love into his life. They were both so much older now and lines creased both of their faces, lines that meant so much to him, there were laughter lines, anger lines and sad lines but all of them had been made together and somehow two very different people had raised a remarkable girl.

Ohno’s heart skipped at the smile that had formed on his husbands face, as they got older his Nino got more beautiful to him, he could still remember the dance that he had first seen him, never would he have believed that they would go through so much together and Nino would still be able to take his breath away. He guessed it was true what his dad had told him on his and Kazu’s tenth anniversary, ‘To make a marriage work you have to re-fall in love with someone for a different reason every day’ Later, in their bed, he would fall in love with his husband again when he was going to cry because their daughter would be leaving them soon. They both loved Rabbit the same but Ohno had figured out that over the years his husband and daughter had a connection that he couldn’t be a part of and that was down to them having almost the same childhood when he had talked about it with Aiba he said that he had felt the same way about Yuuki and Jun.

His hand slipped over the table linking their fingers tightly as he tried to reassure him that he was still going to there and Rabbit giggled licking some ice cream from the spoon

“I hope me and Yu, will be as happy as you two” She said and both papas were quick to tell her that they would be. Jun, Aiba and Yuuki came in a few minutes later and there was another round of hugging and congratulations

“Finally, right?!” Jun said resting his head on Aiba’s shoulder as he looked at his son proudly Rabbit and Yuuki blushed hotly, holding each other’s hands as their parents laughed.

“Yep, Jun has wanted to plan this wedding for years” Aiba said proudly stroking his husbands face and Jun gave a shrug and a nod.

“But this means that we’re all a real family now” Jun said playing with Aiba’s hand.

“It means our children now have four dads instead of two…” Nino muttered and Rabbit grinned at him her eyes shining.

They announced that they wanted to be married before they went to college and although they were daunted by the task set in front of them both sets of parents agreed to make it happen and Nino was glad that he had been proven right about Jun already having plans. His brother was an expert in setting everything the couple wanted in motion and within weeks it was set up and there was only one day until the wedding.

“Dad told me not to keep you out past curfew because he’ll get it in the neck from your Papa-Kazu that he didn’t get to spend the night before your wedding spoiling you” Yuuki smiled playing with her hair as they sat in the park they had played in so many times as children. Rabbit felt nerves tighten in her stomach and chest as it dawned on her that this was the last night that she would be living with her papa’s as their little girl. “Aki… I can’t believe that tomorrow you’re going to be Mrs Matsumoto-Aiba…Are you excited?”

“I think…I… um… ” Rabbit whispered her throat becoming constricted as her heart leapt into her mouth. She tried to fight the tears that were forming but images of her papas rose in in her mind “Yuuki… I can’t… Marry you I can’t…”

“Wait… What? What do you mean you can’t marry me?” Yuuki shouted staring down at her his almost unique silver eyes filling with tears. “The wedding’s tomorrow…”

“I… I’m sorry Yuuki…” Rabbit whispered looking away and getting to her feet “I can’t do it… I still want to be Rabbit Ninomiya-Ohno for a little longer…”

“Aki…This is just…” Yuuki started but Rabbit didn’t listen turning away she put all of her baseball training into use by clearing the park in a few minutes head for home. She was glad when she saw that the lights were on. She ran into her house seeing her papa’s sitting on the sofa their arms around each other like on their movie nights. She flew to them and lay down with her face buried in between both of their legs as she started crying,

“Rabbit… What’s wrong?” Papa-Kazu asked gently his hand going to her hair the short fingers making circular movements on the back of her head as papa-Satoshi’s hand came to stroke at her back.

“The weddings off!” She said her voice coming out muffled against the fabric of their jeans. “I told Yuuki that I couldn’t marry him!”

“What? Why?” They asked together and Rabbit’s shoulder shook with the tears she was crying.

“What did he do?” Nino asked his voice becoming tight and Rabbit stiffened giving a sob as she got up again.

“Nothing…He didn’t do anything… It was me…” she whispered running up the stairs to her room and throwing herself on to her bed hugging her pillow tightly as tears rolled down her cheeks. Nino and Ohno stared at each other with puzzled expressions on their faces until Jun rang and told them what Yuuki had told him.

“Put the popcorn on” Nino told his husband before heading upstairs to his daughter “Typical scared little Rabbit… Getting jumpy over wedding jitters” he said coming into the room, “Jun just phoned me… Apparently Yuuki-kun came home crying saying that you had broken up with him and called off the wedding…”

“I… Um…” Rabbit said hugging the toy Rabbits that Nino had won for her so many years ago. He came and sat on the bed playing with her hair and looking at the wedding dress that was hanging in the corner. It was the same dress that Ohno’s mum had worn on her wedding day and the once terrifying lawyer had looked like a sweet old grandma when she had handed it over asking her to wear it. Nino couldn’t deny that he had spent a lot of night uncomfortable for his husband by unable to sleep knowing that Rabbit soon wouldn’t be living with them

“I have to admit that I love your reason being that you want to be our little girl for a bit longer but you know no matter how old you are or how far away you live you will always be our little girl… You will always be our selfless little Rabbit…”

“Papa… Won’t you be lonely if I got married?” She asked and Nino nodded, admitting it to her for the first time

“Hmm…Maybe when I turn around in the morning and I don't see my Rabbit sitting on the chair watching me, but that’s okay, because I know you’ll be with someone that loves you just as much as we do… Its life that you grow up and get married, sweetheart but we’re still a family…” He touched the locket that was around her neck, the locket that they had given her for her first Christmas “You just need a bigger locket for more pictures…”

“I love you dad” Rabbit sniffed hugging him tightly and pressing her face into his chest listening to his heart beating

“I know you do, Rabbit and I love you too…We both do…”

“Can…We watch movies again on the couch? Just the three of us…”

“Papa is already making the popcorn…” Nino told her kissing her head and leading her downstairs the rabbits still clutched in her hands. The smell of popcorn filled her senses as once again laying on Nino’s lap hugging her bunnies as he stroked her hair

“Ah… Yuuki… I should tell him…” She said panic in her voice and Nino let out a laugh

“Don’t worry he’ll be at the church” Ohno mumbled with a smile coming to sit beside them putting the bowl of popcorn down on the table. His arms came around both of them as Nino pressed play on the remote the first movie they had ever watched together flickered onto the T.V screen.

The little family watched movies until one by one they fell to sleep laying against each other only waking up when the eight alarms that had been set went of one after another and they entered panic stations gathering up the suits and things they had to take to the hotel.

Mrs Ohno helped Rabbit with into the dress and with her make-up but he refused to allow her to do her hair insisting that only Nino would make it perfect. Mrs Ohno had laughed at that her wrinkled face a picture of love as she nodded and left the room to take her seat leaving Nino and Rabbit alone.

“Are sure you want me to do your hair?” Nino asked running his hand over the river of silk and Rabbit nodded grinning at him though the mirror. Nino picked up the brush and stroked it slowly through the hair taking clips and grips into his mouth like he used to when she was able to sit on his knee. He had studied the hair style he was doing for weeks determined to make her look as beautiful as possible on her wedding day. He made a braid that ran around the top of head and then separated out the hair as he took curling tongue’s curling her hair until there was a cascade of curls running down her back.

On the side were daisy’s some in the traditional white but there were also pink and red ones which he slowly pressed into the braid until it looked complete. He stepped back to admire his handiwork and noticed that Rabbit a slowly crying. “Hey Rabbit, you’re going to ruin your make-up…” He said wiping her eye with a tissue as Ohno came into the room.

“Papa-Toshi…” Rabbit said with a sniff and Ohno beamed at her

“You look so beautiful…” the lawyer said proudly, touching the hair until Nino gave him a light slap on the hand and a glare. “Sorry Kazu…”

“So you should be… Is Jun here yet?”

“Yes they’re all here…All of them…” Ohno said and Rabbit gave a relived smile dabbing at her eyes again “Also Sho and Kame have arrived…”

“Finally!” Nino shrieked as Kame came in with his and Sakurai’s twin 6 year old daughter’s Sakura and Saiyuri both already dressed in their soft pink and purple flower girls dresses.

“Sorry!” Kame apologised “We were meant to get here earlier but the car wouldn’t start so we had to get a taxi… You look beautiful, Akiko”

“Like a princess!” The twins added in their bright voices as the started playing with the rose petals they would be throwing soon. The twins were Sakurai and Kame’s birth daughters, using their sperm and a donor egg and uterus. At the time Nino and Ohno had been tempted to try it too but they would never risk letting Rabbit feel like she was being pushed away.

“Thank-you” Rabbit answered with another smile which faulted when the bell went to announce that it was almost time for them to start.

“I’d better take a seat… Be good girls okay?” Kame said to his daughters who smiled in unison picking up the wicker baskets of rose petals

“We get to be fairy’s now!” They said twirling around and breaking the heavy emotional atmosphere that was building. The music started and Rabbit swallowed a nervous lump that had formed in her chest looking at her papa’s.

“Ready?” Nino asked a she put one arm through his and the other through Ohno’s as they walked to the door which was opened by a female member of the hotel staff. Sakura and Saiyuri walked out first scattering the rose petals onto the purple carpet that ran the aisle were Yuuki was waiting with his best man Katsura, Rabbits first ever boyfriend. Nino and Ohno walked their daughter proudly down the aisle and both were almost reluctant to let her go but in the end with just a kiss on both cheeks they moved back to it in their chairs watching their baby Rabbit Ninomiya-Ohno became Mrs Akiko Matsumoto-Aiba. It happened so quickly it felt like a dream and all to soon they were at the reception and the newlyweds were having their first dance as man and wife.

Nino felt tears stinging his eyes as he watched Yuuki leading his little girl around the dance floor, her white dress trailing over the wood.

“Are you okay?” Ohno asked coming to put his arms around him resting his chin on his shoulder swaying him along with the music. Nino nodded wiping his eyes with the back of his hand

“I’m fine…” He answered his voice sounding choked even though he would never admit it. “We did a good job in the end right?” he asked watching the way Rab-Akiko and Yuuki were moving around the room, their eyes glued together with matching adoring smiles on their faces.

“Yeah we did a good job…” Ohno agreed nuzzling his neck and kissing it as the music changed the announcer saying proudly

“Would the fathers of the bride please step forward…”

A spot light fell on them and as one being they moved towards their little girl they didn’t know the song that she had finally picked for their father/daughter dance. But after weeks of searching there was one song that stood out to her. They both hugged her tightly and then she took Ohno’s hands first as the song started

“I wonder how much time has passed since you held my hand gently. That kind of scene has somehow come to warm a place deep in my heart now. I wonder from when did I become unable to say important things honestly I casually gazed at that back which seemed just a little bit small Whenever I felt my own weakness, I felt your warmth too. I hope that this song resounds, that it reaches you, and the feelings are unchanged and unadorned..”

Ohno brought Akiko her back to Nino who took her with a bright smile moving around the dance floor proudly

“If the time comes that someday I'll protect someone else　I hope I'll remember your hand. Despite that you never show people your pain or sorrow. You gave a small laugh that my weakness is similar to your own pain. You gave the me who was setting out on a journey the courage to live over and over again. I'm watching from a faraway city　No matter when, with feelings that are surely resolute. Dreams continue on this road. When I stood still, I was able to hear your voice. I hope that this song resounds, that it reaches you....”

Finally all three of them moved together all three bright eyed with tears as the song came to a close

“That is like the nostalgic scent similar to a single flower from somewhere. If the time comes that someday I'll protect someone else I hope I'll remember your hand…”

“I love you, papa, dad…”

A/N: hehe I have only a vague idea where this story came from >.< I can’t resist popping into the blue moon verse…There’re still so many parts of their lives that I want to write about every now and then… I’m sorry that it’s so corny… I was listening to Gift the other day and I thought that in a strange way it was perfect for a father/daughter dance song… So who better than my OhMiya and Rabbit family ne? I hope you enjoyed ^.^

Completely unrelated to anything I just need to rant: why in hell was that Jessie J woman allowed to ruin one of Queen's songs and my enjoyment of the closing ceremony? What was wrong with just having Freddie Mercury on a big screen?
