A/N: NON-MPREG version.
Nino was sat on the hospital bed, he looked so nervous and small that Matsu felt guilty that he was making the Feman go through this. Aiba was only going to take a small sample of blood but from the expression on Nino’s face it looked like he was going to be tortured.
His ears were completely flat against his head so it looked as if he was wearing a hat, his tail was flicking left and right wildly and even from his position a few feet away, Matsu could tell he was trembling.
“Now Nino… I’m just going to take a tiny little bit of your blood, okay?” Aiba told him going towards him with a gun shaped device. Nino saw it and he let out a hiss, jumping of the bed a running behind Matsu.
“It’s okay Nino” Matsu whispered “I promise it will only hurt a little bit Aiba needs to run some tests on your blood so he can make you a DNA profile so you can go to earth.
“D-N-A pro-fi-le?” Nino repeated his head going from one side to the other as he tried to work that out.
“It’s like a map of you”
“A map of Nino? “ Nino frowned “Does master need a map of Nino?”
“Maybe of your G-spots” Aiba said and Matsu gave him swift kick but it was too late Nino had already heard him.
“G-spots? What is G-spots?” Nino asked and Matsu gave a groan, while Aiba laughed
“We’ll talk about it some other time” The doctor promised patting his arm. “But we need a map of Nino because earth doesn’t let unregistered aliens onto its surface”
Nino clearly didn’t understand what Aiba was saying but he was distracted enough so that the doctor could quickly stick the needle in his arm
“Ouch!” Nino hissed flinching as the needle penetrated his skin, Matsu instantly stroking at his ear lightly trying to calm him down.
“Aiba you could have given him some warning” He snapped
“It was only a little prick” Aiba shrugged frowning at the small vial of blood he had just taken.
“What’s wrong?” Matsu asked noticing the look he was giving the sample
“Nothing…” Aiba said slowly shaking the vial a little “I just thought it would be a different colour to our blood… Wouldn’t it have been cool if it was yellow or green?”
“I think that would have been more problematic…” Matsu mumbled, though there were a few life forms with yellow or green blood none were the kind that were welcome on earth’s surface.
“Yeah but it would have been pretty” Aiba sighed putting some of the blood onto the sensor. The Feman jumped when the machine made a whooping noise and then started talking in an oddly metallic voice.
“Species: unknown… Age: 16… Gender: Unknown…”
“Wait, Unknown?” Matsu said rubbing Nino’s back trying to calm the Feman, who was looking around for where the voice was coming from “I think there’s something wrong with the machine…”
“Maybe it’s because it doesn’t understand Feman DNA” Aiba shrugged “Correction”
“What is correction?” The AI asked
“Gender: Male” Aiba said clearly, looking more professional than Matsu had ever seen him before.
“Correction noted… Illness: None found… Statius: Dying”
“Wh-What?” Aiba stammered while Matsu’s eyes almost bulged out of his head.
“Scan show’s early signs dying of blood cells…” The AI clarified
“But that’s impossible” Matsu whispered looking down at Nino.
“Would you like me to run scan again?”
“Yes” Aiba said quickly recovering from his shock.
“One moment… Status… Dying” The AI confirmed and it was flashing on the screen in big bright letters.
“AI… Scan again” Matsu said as calmly as possible not wanting to startle Nino any more than he had been. He wasn’t sure if Nino understood what dying even meant. But even if the Feman did understand it wasn’t possible, Nino was perfectly healthy there was nothing wrong with him.
“One moment… Status… Dying… Life signs: weakened…” The AI said trying to continue with the rest of its programming.
“AI… Scan status again… Deep scan” Matsu said again. There was a soft whirl of the blood going through its tests.
“One moment… Status… dying” the AI said and Matsu was positive that if it could it would have given a huge sigh.
“Aiba how accurate is that thing?”
“99.9%” Aiba whispered looking at Nino who was looking scared as if he had done something wrong. “Nino… On your planet… Your magic men did they tell you that you were sick?” He asked gently and Nino looked at Matsu confused.
“Master?”
“Did the say that you were ill?” Aiba asked bluntly
“Yes, Master, mama told Nino…” Nino nodded slowly “A long time ago… She used her magic to keep me well…”
“And since the people took your mama away…” Matsu whispered not wanting to believe it.
“Yes, master… Master is Nino sick again?” Nino asked softly letting go of Matsu’s arm to touch his forehead. “But… Aiba-doc-ter can make Nino better”
“I… I don’t…” Matsu looked at Aiba who was looking as panicked as Matsu felt
“We can do more tests… When we get to earth…” The doctor whispered almost pleadingly touching Matsu’s arm lightly “We can use a hospital or something”
“Aiba can you imagine what will happen if not only a Feman but a dying Feman is found on earth?” Matsu asked with more venom than he intended. He was worried, really worried, the government didn’t care what species it was if Nino was sick they would lock him somewhere. There had to be a way of saving him. “Nino, what did your mama do to help you?”
“Nino doesn’t know, master” Nino answered still touching his forehead “She and my sister would go to a special temple and they would bring me a drink… It tasted funny…”
“But you were never taken to a special temple?”
“No master. Nino is not special like them… Nino wasn’t magic… Nino was going to be a hunter” Nino smiled again before his face dropped “Though… I am sorry that Nino wasn’t very good at that…”
“Nino, I…” Matsu said not wanting to finish the sentence, he felt that if he did it would make it real. Looking at him there were no obvious signs that Nino was sick.
“Before you panic, I’ll do some more tests, I mean the AI didn't no what gender Nino was at first. It might be that Feman’s have a slightly different blood type or the males have low levels of red or white blood cells or something…” Aiba told Matsu quickly.
Matsu snapped his head around in surprise, although he knew that Aiba was a qualified doctor it was rare for him to sound so intelligent.
“Nino has just said that that his mother told him that he was sick” Matsu said in an almost panicked way, regretting it when he felt the Feman tremble beside him.
“Then I suggest that you don’t worry him” Aiba whispered in his ear so Nino wouldn’t hear. “Take him back to your room and make him rest”
“Okay. You’re right” The captain nodded slowly.
“I normally am” Aiba grinned though it didn’t reach his eyes.
Matsu led Nino back to his room and forced the Feman to lay on the bed, trying to act as normally as possible. Nino grinned happily and handed him the book
“Will master tell Nino the stories?” he asked
“Y-es…” Matsu nodded quickly getting on the bed in a similar position as before and opening the book. Nino’s purrs were soon filling the air as Matsu read telling himself that the AI was wrong that Nino was perfectly healthy.
A/N: Okay this version is more angst-y than the MPREG but I hope you’ll like it ^.^
