A/N: Aiba and Nino are older than the others in this. Teacher/student relationships,
“I-I um… Eh?” Aiba stammered staring into the students eyes and seeing his own reflection in the almond shape. The breath against his face smelt sweet like the strawberry sweets Chika liked. ‘Chika’ he thought and looked down at the hand again seeing the blood dripping down. “We should treat your hand!” he said putting his hands on his chest and almost blushing when he felt the hard muscles against his palms.
Cute semi muscular guys were definitely his type, Mika had remarked on it a lot during their time in college her tone had always been half teasing and half admiring when she remarked that all of his boyfriends were ‘studs’. The truth was though that he liked to feel protected while having sex, and somehow he always felt safe in the arms of a muscular guy. He suddenly wondered what it would feel like to have Sakurai’s arms around him.
Using all his strength and willpower he pushed him away, instead of pulling him close and went to get his antiseptic wipes. Taking a deep breath he pushed Sakurai down into a chair and started treating him he kept his eyes focused on the hand not daring to look at his face.
“You didn’t answer sensei… What is your type?”
“I don’t like people who fight” He muttered wondering what the other guys face must be like if his hand was this bad.
“I only hit the locker… Aniki would get mad if we actually fight in school… Your daughter, she’s pretty… Like you”
“She looks more like her mama” Aiba said quickly surprised and disturbed at how happy the praise made him. He tried to keep his heart
“Were you married before you realised that you liked men more?”
“No, I’ve always known” Aiba shrugged finishing cleaning the hand and sticking a plaster over the deepest cut. He got up and moved away, unable to keep his hands steady. Sakurai was a student and this was the first real conversation they’d had. Sure he’d been having a dry spell recently but that didn’t mean that he had the right to get stupid over the first guy, (Student!) that hit on him.
“Sensei… This is pink with flowers…” Sakurai mumbled and when the nurse looked around he saw bright pink plaster with purple and blue flowers on the Yankees hand. Aiba giggled lightly thinking how silly he looked with bleached blond hair, piercings and a pink plaster,
“Ah, sorry… That’s Chika’s… I must have put them in by mistake…” He said about to take it off.
“This is fine… I’ll take it off later anyway” The student shrugged pulling his hand away and Aiba noticed that there was a faint blush in his face. “You still haven’t told me what you do like in guys”
“Am I interrupting Aiba-sensei?” Nino said and even before he saw it Aiba knew he was smirking. The nurse turned to look at his new found friend, and saw that he was right there was a huge grin on his on his face and he was giving Sakurai an almost mean teasing look “Wow, Sho-kun, I didn’t realise you were so forward…”
“Aniki…” Sakurai groaned looking down at his hands. For all the world looking like Chika when she wasn’t allowed chocolate ice cream. It was amazing the effect that Nino had on the student, who until now had seemed so confident. Strange wild ideas about the Yankees in school being a part of Nino’s harem or something, started floating around in his head. He seriously wanted to know what it was that Nino had over the Yankees.
His original theory of Nino being the leader of a gang popped up again but he guessed that that would be one that a lot of students and teachers had. He knew for a fact that Nino was sleeping with Matsu but he sensed that their relationship was more complex than just ‘fuck buddies’ or something.
So if Nino was Matsu’s ‘bitch’ that might explain why the Yankees followed him but even that theory seemed flawed. Sakurai had very obvious respect for his ‘Aniki’ that didn’t come from him being a bitch.
“You shouldn’t over think things sensei, you’ll tie yourself into knots. I only came by because some woman named Kuda is at reception with your kid”
“What? Kuda-san?” He cried and ran from the room without looking back. He arrived breathless in front of Kuda and saw Chika standing nervously behind her teachers legs “Chika-chan… Is something wrong?”
“I’m sorry Aiba-sensei… But for today I’ve had to pull Chika out…”
“Why what happened?”
“I um… Is there a place we can talk?”
“I’ll watch Chika-chan, Aiba-sensei” Aiba turned surprised to see that Sakurai had followed him. Normally he wouldn’t trust Chika with someone that looked like Sakurai did but he was determined to trust his instinct that he was a nice kid.
“Chika-chan…” Aiba said gently and Chika flinched looking like she was in trouble and the nurse had to wonder what she had done. “Chika-chan, go with Sho-chan, ne… He will look after you…”Chika stared at Sakurai her beautiful eyes widening in fear and amazement. Aiba gave a laugh ruffling her hair “You can trust Sho-chan, ne? He even wears the same plasters you do…” he pointed at the plaster on Sakurai’s hand which matched the one on her leg.
“Come on Chika-chan…” Sakurai said with a kinder voice than anyone would have believed from his appearance. He held out his hand to her and although Chika looked doubtful she walked forwards and took it.
“I’ll be back soon princess…” Aiba promised and then smiled and Sakurai “Thank-you”
“It’s okay” The student mumbled again embarrassed by the gratitude and Aiba wondered how anyone could be so un-used to praise. Aiba thought suddenly that it was cute.
Aiba led the daycare teacher into a small side office, watching Sakurai take the still nervous looking Chika out into the courtyard. Kuda sat in the chair that was offered to her and looked down at her hands
“Is something wrong, Kuda-san?”
“No, it’s just… Every now and then she starts crying for her mama, normally when can calm her down but today we couldn’t get her to stop until I promised to bring her here. I’m sorry, Aiba-sensei…”
“It’s fine” Aiba said but he was troubled, it was only the start of the day, he had only just started working in the school he didn’t think the principle would like him taking the day off but it would be much less likely that he would want a three year old running around in the infirmary Mrs Kuda must have read his thoughts as she apologised quickly. “It’s not your fault Kuda-san, she wasn’t feeling right earlier” he said. Mika would have known what to do he thought as he went out to find his daughter.
He had always been a part of her life and he thought that would be enough, but now that he thought about it. Maybe she only thought of him like an older brother or an uncle and not her papa. That would hurt, he thought glumly. Before she had passed away Mika had been seeing a stable salary man, maybe he was who Chika thought of as her father. Aiba stopped blinking when he heard a familiar voice,
“Papa… He likes cute things, like puppies and kittens…”
He turned and saw Sakurai and Chika sitting under a tree making what looked like flower chains. It was almost hysterical to see a Yankee making a flower chain but Aiba’s eyes were fixed on Chika’s face stunned to see that she was actually smiling as she looked at Sakurai.
