A/N: Aiba and Nino are older than the others in this. Teacher/student relationships,

Sakurai took the little girl and led her outside, he was surprised that the nurse had agreed so readily. He was happy and pleased that Aiba had trusted him with something that was so important to him. Just losing the photo had reduced the Nurse to tears. As he led her to the flower bed he saw Matsu give him a puzzled look but he didn’t say anything.

Sakurai sat next to some pink and purple flowers, looking at the little girl. Chika was staring at her shoes as if she was going to be scolded, her face was pale and drawn nothing like it had been in the photo. While he was studying her he realised how much both her and her father were ‘designed’ for smiling. Every time he saw him Aiba had a huge friendly smile on his face that warmed everyone with its warmth and Chika was meant to have the same one.

She sat slowly down and looked at him nervously. With her shoulder length black that was plated down her back she reminded him of his little sister, Shiori. He hadn’t thought about her or any of his real family for a long time.

“Sho-nii… Your hair looks funny” Chika said after awhile

“Really?” Sakurai smiled, glad that at least she had spoken to him. He picked some of the flowers and starting to make a chain. He was surprised that he still remembered how to do so, it was a long time since he had done them for Shiori. Chika’s mouth fell open as she watched him

“Wow!” The little girl gasped “Like mama!”

“Your mama used to do this?”

“Yes…Mama would make Chika flower chains…Chika misses her mama…”

“But you still have your papa”

“Does Sho-nii have a papa?”

“No, I only have my aniki and Jun…” Sakurai answered it wasn’t completely true he had a family somewhere but he doubted if he would ever see them again. His answer seemed to almost please the little girl. Maybe because she thought they had something in common but she patted his leg gently and gave him a small smile

“Chika will let Sho-nii share her papa! Papa is very nice and gives you kisses when you’re sad…” She told him proudly and Sakurai returned her smile.

“Shall we make a flower chain for papa? They would look pretty on papa ne” Sakurai asked and Chika agreed happily. Sakurai started making the flower chain longer and wondered if he could use her to find out some more information on Aiba

“Did your mama and papa live together, Princess Chika?” He asked slowly hoping the girl wouldn’t think it was weird. But luckily since she was only three she seemed more than happy to fill him in

“No, Chika had two homes… Papa lived upstairs from Mama… But mama said that they were like brother and sister” She told him innocently as she started picking flowers for him to add to the chain. “Mama said that because papa loved her so much he gave her Chika… But Papa’s say’s its because mama loved him. Because papa wanted a baby… Papa calls Chika his princess…”

“He does? Well Chika is a little princess ne?” He said and Chika smiled at him, it wasn’t a wide as the one in the photo but it suited her face more.

“What kind of things does your papa like?” Sakurai asked handing her the completed flower chain.

“Papa… He likes cute things, like puppies and kittens…” She told him playing with the chain before turning and giving a cry of “Papa!” Sakurai almost refused to look at the nurse embarrassed that Aiba had overheard him asking his daughter what he liked.

When he did look up he saw almost tears in Aiba’s eyes as he looked at Chika. Sakurai didn’t really understand it but he guessed it had something to do with the smile. Chika didn’t seem to notice anything strange and the in her small hand was the flower chain, waving frantically “Papa…We made you this… Sho-nii said it would look pretty on papa”

“Did he?” Aiba whispered in a shaky voice looking at the Sakurai who quickly looked down at, his eyes focused on the new chain he was working on. “But wouldn’t it look prettier on Chika-chan?”

“I’m making princess Chika’s now” Sakurai muttered while Chika pulled Aiba down so she could put the flowers over his head.

“Papa… Will you help Chika make one for Sho-nii?” Chika asked handing him some flowers.

“Um… I… yeah…” Aiba nodded and Chika sat down in his lap.

“Sho-nii asked Chika what papa likes, Chika told him that papa likes cute things… Sho-nii is cute ne?” Chika asked and Sakurai’s heart thudded against his ribs, waiting for Aiba’s answer.

“Um… Yeah, Sho-chan is cute” He answered and Sakurai’s head snapped up his piercing shining in the sunlight. Aiba blushed quickly and prettily and he quickly finished the chain handing it to his daughter who quickly scooted off his knee and put it around her new ‘brother’s neck

“Thank-you Princess Chika, Sensei” Sakurai murmured touching the small flowers

“Papa, Sho-nii doesn’t have a papa, so Chika promised that he could share Chika’s papa”

“Oh really?” Aiba said looking at him,

“Yep… You have to kiss him when he’s sad…”

“Sorry you got such a disappointing son” Sakurai said before he could stop himself. He really had just been a disappointment to his real family, maybe that’s why someone honest like Aiba couldn’t accept him. Aiba gave a puzzled frown smoothing Chika’s braid and Sakurai quickly got to his feet. “Sorry, Sensei I should go”

“S-Sure, thanks for sitting with her” Aiba said

“Anytime, it was fun, ne, princess Chika?”

“Yep, thank-you for the flower chain, Sho-nii” Chika smiled touching the chain that was around her neck. Sakurai smiled and then with a quick wave headed to where the gang would be.

Not that they were a ‘real’ gang anymore. Since Matsu and Kaze… Nino had sort of gotten together, Nino would kill them if they didn’t behave. Sakurai wasn’t sure what the relationship actually was between his friend and the Math teacher but he knew that in his ‘cool’ way Matsu was only truly happy when the teacher was looking at him.

Matsu was sat in his normal place against the wall reading a book while the others were playing cards or looking through manga’s or magazines. Nino didn’t tell them to go to lessons though he really would kick their asses if they didn’t show up in his.

“Yo” He said sitting down next to his oldest friend. Matsu looked at him from over his book but didn’t do or say anything. Sakurai leaned against the wall touching the flowers that were still around his neck. The nurse had looked so cute and so was Chika but the little girl had just reminded him of the fact that he was a lot younger than the nurse.

“What’s up?” Matsu asked and Sakurai turned to look at him. Matsu had put the book down and was looking at him.

“Nothing…” Sakurai mumbled moving his hand from the flowers and he knew Matsu didn’t believe him

“Yeah, nothing…” his friend said rolling his eyes “So was that Aiba-sensei’s little girl?”

“Chika-chan” Sakurai nodded with a smile, “She’s cute ne? How did you get Aniki…”

“We made a deal” Matsu shrugged “But Aiba-sensei is nothing like Kazu…So what are you going to do?”

“I don’t know but he’s way too cute to leave alone…” Sakurai answered remembering the look on the nurse’s face. Promising himself that no matter what he would get Aiba to like him so he could see his smile a few times more and Chika’s.
