“They’re beating up Matsumoto”

“Where?” Aiba asked quickly while Nino got to his feet

“In his classroom” Was the breathless answer and Nino felt his blood freeze in his veins and as if he was on auto pilot he ran from the room heading to his husband’s classroom on the second floor. He pushed open the door and was confused and relieved that classroom was almost empty. There was only Matsu’s former friend sitting on the desks.

“Aww the little wife came running” One of the guys said with a sneer while the other gave a mocking laugh. Nino was about to turn to leave, feeling stupid for being tricked when he was grabbed and roughly pushed onto a table by one while the other locked the door.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” He hissed struggling against the guy that was holding him.

“I’m trying to work out why Matsumoto would give everything up for a nasally rat like you… You fags are disgusting...”

Nino tried to kick out but the second guy grabbed his legs “Akira-chan was so upset, she’s been in love with Matsumoto for a long time…”

“So, Unless she has a sex change it’s no good” Nino said twisting around on the desk like a fish on dry land but the hands that held him were too strong and he only ended up hurting himself. “J, is gay he likes dicks…”

“Shut up freak” Umeda said sitting on his chest and slapping his face a few times, “This is your fault… It has to be…”

“Are you seriously trying to tell me that I made him gay?” Nino snapped feeling terrified. The other students were calling them and bullying them because they were different but this guy was completely crazy and that made him more dangerous than any of the others.

The door rattled and Nino’s stomach turned as he heard Aiba outside

“Nino… Nino, are you in there?”

“Oh if it isn’t the other freak” Umeda said turning to Sato who looked like he was also having doubts about his friends mental state “Let him in…”

“No! This doesn’t have anything to do with Aiba…”

“Yeah it does... You three are all disgusting…” Umeda snapped “Do it…”

“But…” Sato started and then flinched when Umeda brought out a knife from his pocket. When his legs were released Nino thrashed about as much as he could but stopped again when he felt the cold edge of the knife being pushed into his side. The door opened and Sato grabbed Aiba holding him tightly as he shut and locked the door again.

“If you don’t want your friend hurt I suggest that you keep quiet…” Umeda hissed showing the wide eyed Aiba the knife. Aiba closed his mouth quickly while Sato started freaking out

“This is crazy… You said we were just going to scare him…”

“We are…”

“By threatening him with a knife? Even if he’s a gay freak he’s still Ninomiya the heir to the Ninomiya family…”

“Are you backing out now? Akira-chan’s paid us a lot of money…”

“This isn’t right!” Sato hissed and Nino decided to use the opportunity to get Umeda off of his chest and get to his feet. With a swear Umeda grabbed him again the knife slicing into his arm. As Nino let out a scream Aiba also got loose and Umeda threw Nino towards the window. Nino’s face went white as he landed roughly against the window and he heard a loud ‘crack’ sound.

The glass smashed around him and he fell through the air and then landed on the floor. Everything went black for a moment and then a white light exploded in his mind and pain filled his senses. Around him he could hear people screaming and shouting but as he tried to move more pain filled his senses and tears slipped down his face.

People who sounded like teachers came up to him and Nino wanted to say that he was okay, but all that left his throat was a whimper.  His whole body felt broken pain covered every available inch of it and he wanted to scream to release some of it but even opening his mouth added to pain he felt. There was the unpleasant tang of blood in his mouth and all he could hear was the sound of bells or chains rattling in his head and then he smelt the soft, subtle scent of peaches and he knew that Matsu was close by.

“J…” He breathed though he was positive that all that came out was a gurgled noise. Matsu seemed to be able to understand him though, and he felt a hand run over his arm. As if by magic the pain eased slightly,

“Kaz… Kaz, I’m here… Everything’s going to be okay” Matsu whispered and Nino guessed he was lying but he couldn’t say that.

“Mas…” Nino asked almost screaming as he tried to turn his head. Aiba had been with him when he entered the room he couldn’t remember exactly what had happened but Aiba should have been there by now making a fuss, but he wasn’t and that scared him

“Aiba’s okay, he’s okay …” Matsu told him soothingly, and this time Nino decided to believe him. It was okay, Aiba was going to get married to Ohno and they were going to be idiotically happy together. “Kaz… Kazunari don’t close your eyes, okay, baby… You have to keep looking at me…”

“Ti…” ‘Tired’ was what he wanted to say but the word just stuck in his throat, he was so tired, he needed sleep

“I know, baby and you can go to sleep soon just not yet…” Matsu told him and Nino gave another groan but opened his eyes, staring into his husbands surprised when he saw the tears that were there “Kaz do you remember Bruno? When he passed away we promised each other that we’d get another dog right, just like Bruno… We’ll get one just like him…”

“Bite…” Nino managed, and he knew that Matsu would somehow understand him the pain seemed to be floating away and he was being surrounded by a warm blanket. He wanted to close his eyes and snuggle up into it to let it take him away but if he did that Matsu would be sad and he didn’t want Matsu to be sad.

“You won’t let him bite me, ne, you’ll look after me…”

“Cry… Baby…”

“I’m not… Its these new contacts, they hurt my eyes…” Matsu denied flatly and Nino smiled his eyes closing again “Kazunari… Kaz… Have you finished that game I leant you?”

“Sleep…”

“Not sleepy time yet… The ambulance is here Kaz, they’re going to take you to the hospital…”

“Come…” Nino panicked as he felt Matsu move away and some more people coming to his side

“I’ll come with you” Matsu promised and Nino was glad that he was still close by.

“Alright… Can you tell me your name?” A new voiced asked and Nino blinked trying to focus

“Ne-no… Nino…” He managed though it was miracle he had managed that

“Okay Nino, my name is Nakamura Yuichi, we’re going to give you something for the pain okay? And then we’re going to get you to the hospital…”

“J…”

“Who’s J?”

“Me… I’m he’s husband”

“Okay J, keep him talking… Like you were doing before…” Nakamura said and Nino was happy when Matsu came back to him. He must have blacked out again because when he woke he was in an ambulance with Matsu holding his hand tightly. The paramedic was saying something but he couldn’t make it out so he stopped trying. The blackness came again and he allowed himself to be overwhelmed by it.
