Aiba left the class room and was about to run after his friend when he heard a muffled laughter coming from class going back in he grabbed the student and roughly pushed him up against the wall.

“What have you done?” He snapped with more anger than he had felt before

“They told me to get Ninomiya-kun to go to Matsumoto’s classroom”

“Who did?” Aiba said and there was no sign of his normal easy going smile. The student gulped licking his lips nervously.

“Umeda and Sato… Akira-chan offered them money to threaten Ninom-…” He didn’t get any further as Aiba punched him in the face and then ran out of the classroom hoping he wasn’t too late.

It wasn’t until he reached the second floor that he realised he didn’t know which classroom was Matsu’s and he started checking every room he came to until eventually he reached a locked door

“Nino? Nino, are you in there?” He shouted banging on the door, he was almost relieved when it was unlocked. He relief was short lived as he saw Nino on the table with Umeda sat on his chest Sato grabbed him and pulled him in.

“If you don’t want your friend hurt I suggest that you keep quiet…” Umeda hissed showing the wide eyed Aiba the knife. Aiba closed his mouth quickly while Sato started freaking out

“This is crazy… You said we were just going to scare him…”

“We are…”

“By threatening him with a knife? Even if he’s a gay freak he’s still Ninomiya the heir to the Ninomiya family…”

“Are you backing out now? Akira-chan’s paid us a lot of money…”

“This isn’t right!” Sato hissed and Nino decided to use the opportunity to get Umeda off of his chest and get to his feet. With a swear Umeda grabbed him again the knife slicing into his arm. As Nino let out a scream Aiba also got loose and watched in horror as Umeda threw Nino towards the window. Aiba tried to run forwards as Nino landed roughly against the glass and a loud ‘crack’ sound filled the room.

Aiba screamed as his friend vanished through the glass and pulling out of Sato’s grip he looked down at Nino who was splayed out on the wall.

“You killed him!” Sato shouted next to him and Aiba wanted to scream that they were wrong that Nino was okay but instead he numbly went to the door wanting to get out.

“It was an accident!” Umeda said quickly while Aiba tried to get to his feet gasping in pain.

“What are we going to do?” Sato asked in a defeated voice.

“We have to get rid of him, he’ll tell everyone that it was us…” Umeda said and Aiba almost fainted

“Us? What do you mean us? You did it… This was your entire fault!”

“You’re both crazy…” Aiba mumbled and Sato looked like he wanted to agree but Umeda lunged at him the knife sinking into Aiba’s side. Aiba gave a shout and twisted away pain flooding in his body as he pulled the knife out and waved it around screaming loudly until the door was smashed open and a teacher came in.

He looked down at his shirt and saw that it was stained bright red with his blood. He fainted then and when he woke he was in a hospital room with his parents sitting tearfully beside the bed.

“Mum… Dad…” He said groggily “Kazu…”

“He’s here sweetie… He badly hurt though…” His mum said “We don’t know any more…”

Aiba realised that he was shaking with fear remembering the sight of Nino’s broken body on the floor.

“They got the two boys and they will need a statement…” His dad told him gently and Aiba nodded wishing that Ohno was here to calmly tell him that everything was going to be okay.

“Aiba-chan” A soft choking voice said and when he looked up he saw Nino’s mum looking at him. Her face was pale and red tear tracks were down her cheeks

“Aunty Ninomiya…” He whispered and she gave a small sad smile

“I’m glad you’re okay, Kazu was asking about you” She told him and Aiba held out his arms and she automatically hugged him. Over her shoulder he saw Nino’s father and Grandfather, there was no sign Matsu and he guessed that he was still with Nino.

“How is he?” Aiba asked and she gave another small smile

“He’s Kazu ne… He won’t back down…” She said “He won’t back down… He won’t leave Jun-kun either, they can’t go anywhere without each other…”

Aiba nodded with a quick kiss on his forehead she left going back to her husband and father. After a while he became tired and his side started to ache so a doctor came with some pain medication that sent him to sleep. When he woke his parents weren’t there a nurse gently told him that they had gone to see Nino.

He looked at the time school would have let out half an hour ago but Ohno still had about an hour left. So he was surprised to see his boyfriend come running into the hospital.

“Oh-chan…” Aiba said flashing a watery smile

“Thank god…” Ohno muttered throwing his arms around his neck and hugging him tightly.

“Kazu… He fell out of a window” Aiba sobbed onto his chest, “They were beating him up because he’s gay…”

“It’s okay, Masaki… Kazu, he’s tough ne? He’ll be okay” Ohno told him stroking his hair ignoring the looks they were getting. “Where’s Matsumoto-kun…”

“He’s with Kazu’s parents mum and dad is with them too…”

“Why didn’t you call me?”

“I was going too, but I thought that you were still in your lesson…”

“Even if I was you should have told me, I’m your fiancée…”

“Sorry, Oh-chan… I wasn’t thinking… Kazu…” Aiba mumbled his eyes going to the room where Nino was.

“I’m sorry… It’s just when they told me you were in the hospital…I was terrified…” Ohno whispered pressing his lips to his forehead and Aiba tried to smile. His face fell though, when he saw Matsu coming out of the room and almost collapse to the floor. He pulled away from Ohno and tried to run to him but his brain spun with the pain medication that was in his system.

“Jun… Go to Jun…” Aiba said waving Ohno away as a nurse came to berate him from getting out of his bed. Ohno did as he was told as Aiba was helped back into his bed

“Aiba-san, you have been given strong pain medication… You need to rest…” The nurse told him and Aiba nodded

“I’m sorry my friend…” Aiba said mentioning to Matsu who was being helped to his feet by Ohno. Aiba blinked away the tears not wanting to give up hope but for Matsu to have a reaction that bad things must be getting worse for his friend.

“I understand… But you need to think about yourself, Aiba-san” The nurse said her voice calming softly. Matsu and Ohno came over and Matsu threw his arms around his neck and they cried together.

“He’s still alive… But they say that he might not pull through the night” Matsu told him and Aiba felt like collapsing himself. “I shouldn’t have made him come into school… We should have just stayed at home…”

“This isn’t your fault…” Aiba told him quietly “The ones that did this not you… Kazu wouldn’t want you to blame yourself... He’ll get through this…He has too…”
