“Are you sure he’ll be okay on the ship?” Matsu asked for the millionth time that day and even the ever joyful Aiba was starting to look annoyed with him.

“He’ll be completely fine, being able to study his blood at the lab helped more than you could realise, I can even stop his space sickness without harming the little ones” The doctor told him with all the patients of a saint and Matsu had to wonder how he had ever thought him in capable as a doctor. Nino was happily drinking on milk in the background soft happy purrs filling the air as his hand stroked over the pudgy belly, Ohno was a cool as a cucumber and the captain had to wonder why he was the only one in a flap that they were about to take a pregnant male Feman onto a space ship where as soon as they left earth space they would be wanted pirates. “Papa… Trust me, mama-Nino and your babies will be fine, I know what I’m doing…”

“Okay” Matsu sighed eventually going over to where Nino was slurping the last of his milk and milk moustache hanging over his top lip. Aiba had suggest that he wear as baggy clothes as possible and yesterday after Nino had fallen to sleep he had gone to buy as many clothes as possible using up last of his savings. The only problem when he had been looking at the clothes he had only picked out clothes that would look cute on him and now Nino had a collection of clothes that he looked adorable in but weren’t exactly navy material. Luckily though Ohno had brought him a uniform with the rank ‘Leading seamen’ it didn’t mean anything to Nino but he did like the pretty badge he got. Though when Matsu had first seen him in the uniform he had had to force away any naughty thoughts that popped into his head.

“Have you finished Nino?” He asked wiping the moustache away with his thump, he wanted to lick it away with his tongue but since the doctor and admiral were there he didn’t want to get teased. He was going to ask about Sakurai but since he was pretending not to know about that. There was only about an hour until they would be leaving for the Arashi and this would be the last time he saw this apartment. He had taken everything that mattered to him, like his books and the rest of clothes. He had cancelled his lease saying that he would be shipside for a long time and didn’t want to waste money on an apartment he wouldn’t be using. The landlord had been surprised and Matsu knee it was because he had never been bothered by that before but he had a family on the way and he knew he couldn’t waste money needlessly. Last week he had had a meeting with his crew and told them that the Arashi couldn’t fly with only a half loyal crew and though that couldn’t follow his orders would be reassigned to another ship with complete glowing references so it was doubtful that they would have enough crew to fly out.

The Arashi wasn’t a big ship but it needed at least five crew men, so far he had two, him and Ohno. Aiba was a doctor, Sakurai a scholar and Nino no matter how hot he looked in a navel uniform was a Feman and not the type to be able to fly a space. Plus even if he could soon he was going to be too busy with everything else, namely two screaming babies. He had had concerns that maybe the babies would age faster than normal when they were out of Nino. Aiba had waved that away saying that if they did it wouldn’t be as dramatic as their development was in the womb.

“Nino is finished, master” Nino said with a smile and Matsu blinked looking at him, he had almost forgotten he had asked the question. He gave a smile pulling at the passible wig that covered the soft silky ears, which seemed to be getting softer the more the pregnancy wore on. Looking into Nino’s beautiful brown eyes all his worries and doubts were forgotten, there was so much trust in his eyes and it wasn’t because he was ‘class 8 backwards’ it was because in genuinely believed that Matsu would love him completely and always do what was best for him. The weight of that love and trust should have felt like a burden for somebody that had never had the limitations of a family before but to Matsu it was a welcome weight that he hoped to shoulder for the rest of his life.

He reached down putting his hand on Nino’s that was still resting on his stomach making a silent promise to his babies that everything would be okay. He looked at his watch and realised that it was time to go. With a smile he picked up the bag that held a few bottles of milk and a music player he took Nino’s hand and the four of them walked towards out of the door glad. The taxi was waiting for them and Matsu was surprised that it was the same driver as the one that had brought them here.

“Hello, again captain I thought it would be you and your partner shipping out again” He said as he opened the door and they all climb inside. “I almost envy you being able to ship out together…”

“If you really want to there’s space on the Arashi you could even have private rooms for you, your wife and your children, though you might never be able to come back to earth again” Matsu said holding Nino’s hand, he was only half serious but the taxi driver looked as if he was actually considering the offer.

“It’s a bit short notice sir” He laughed “Thanks for the offer though, maybe one day I’ll ship out again…”

Matsu felt relief in his heart that his words had been taken as a simple joke, he let out his own laugh and then rested his head against Nino’s. They were soon at the docks and Nino attracted the attention of the cats again. The circled around him meowing loudly. Nino’s face was one of pure joy, he meowed lightly back to them though his face fell a little.

“What’s wrong?” Matsu asked gently and Nino pointed to a scrawny white and tabby cat that in all honesty didn’t look like it had long left in the world. It gave a weak meow and Nino dived into the bag and pulled out some of the milk. Matsu would have protested but that would have been cruel, more so because he was going to be the father of Humitten’s soon. Nino poured some of the milk into the palm of his hand and held it out to the sickly looking cat, which made a feeble attempt to drink it.

“Aiba-doctor… Can help” Nino said confidently and all eyes turned to the doctor who gave a happy grin and scooped the cat into his arms.

“Permission to bring him aboard, sir?” Aiba asked and Matsu nodded slowly. They looked a strange party as they walked through the checkpoint but since they were with an admiral nobody even bothered to check their ID’s though Aiba did get a few strange looks with that kitten in his arms.

The ship, as always, was exactly the same and Matsu suddenly feeling like he was home. The made their way to the bridge and the captain was glad that there were a few members of crew aboard, though he realised that they had a new navigator.

“Name?” He asked and the thin guy gave a huge grin that could almost rival the doctors.

“Ikuta Toma, sir” He said

“Ikuta… Like the engineer… Ikuta Tomohisa?”

“My husband sir” Toma said happily “He told me that it didn’t feel like you would be coming back to earth, and he likes this crew so I requested a transfer, sir, hope that’s okay”

“That’s fine…” He sank into his chair with a sigh of relief pulling Nino down onto his knee. The doctor was holding the kitten tightly chewing his lip worried, so he guessed Aiba had no idea if Sakurai had made it aboard.  They got clearance to depart and soon they were flying up, away from earth. The moment they reached ‘space’ Sakurai appeared from somewhere and Aiba gave an excited shout hugging him tightly. Matsu turned to Ohno who gave a nod looking at the navigator

“Set coordinates for the Crescent system” He said softly and although he looked surprised he gave a determined nod

“Crescent System, yes sir” he said punching in the numbers. Matsu pulled the wig of and released Nino’s ear’s looking around at the other three he mumbled with a grin

“Welcome home aboard the Arashi”
