Disclaimer: I don’t even own the plot it’s all based on an idea from my younger brother, ^.^
Jun pulled onto the main road and although his was driving he had no idea where he was meant to be going, there was a thick heavy silence in the car and he had no idea how to break it. Aiba was giving him a list of names of restaurants in his head and although all of them sounded good and fancy that meant they would be nice and pricy too. Although it might not put a dent in the princess peach wallet of his companion he knew any one of them would bankrupt him.
Nino hadn’t spoken since the joke about the phone and was dreamily staring out of the window, Jun felt like a bad date, it wasn’t the games designers fault that he didn’t want to be here.
“So… Was that the first game you’ve put out?” he asked softly stopping Aiba who was launching into another list of less expensive places they could go. Nino jolted as if he had been brought out of some huge thought and he turned to look at him,
“It’s the first and more than likely only one solely put out by SK, I normally fund other companies to make the actual games but ‘Konseki’ was important to me…” He told him and Jun nodded not really knowing how to follow that up, although he had answered it had been with a feeling of ‘I don’t want to talk about it’.
“That’s just your imagination” Aiba said with a sigh “You just keep making excuses…”
“Um… So what’s it about?” Jun asked not wanting to upset Aiba anymore in case he started speaking aloud he was determined to look as sane as possible tonight.
“How far have you got?” Nino asked thoughtfully as if he was weighing something up
“The witches guild” Jun admitted, he wasn’t sure if that was a good or a bad thing, but judging from the look on Nino’s face it probably nothing to be proud of and he suddenly felt embarrassed and he was sure why. It wasn’t such a bad thing that he wasn’t into games but Nino’s face had an expression that gave him the feeling that he had just spat at his grandmother or something.
“Um… If I tell you anything if you’re only at that point it would be spoilers… Maybe when you’re a little further…” He said, “Besides, it’s all about freedom of choice, if I told you wouldn’t it be pointless?”
“He has a point…” Aiba murmured in agreement “I told you, you should have played it more I said that it would be rude on Nino-chan…”
“I had work!” Jun almost snapped hating that he had to defend himself over a game and Nino blinked at him in surprise “I mean that’s why I couldn’t get further…” He continued his tone of voice more neutral that time “Sorry, it’s a good game though…”
“Thanks… Sorry, I guess I’m not used to talking to people that aren’t avid gamers… So if you’re really not an idol what do you do?” Nino asked with a grin seemingly not caring that they were just looping around the city in the car now “Model?”
“Are you trying to be flattering?” Jun asked trying not to be flattered by his question, although he was positive that he had to be joking.
“Nope, but I can’t work out what other job where prefect cheek bones would be helpful…” Nino mused with a grin his eyes flashing and Jun gave a full on blush now.
“I don’t have perfect cheek bones…” He mumbled and Aiba giggled lightly, and Jun suspected that he was going to be teased by his lover later. Aiba stopped laughing then
“Former…” He whispered and Jun blinked, again with the reminders, he thought “It’s the truth, Jun-kun, you agreed to try… So try…”
“Maybe not but you are pretty cute” The games designer was saying, and Jun tried to give a flattered but off hand smile
“Thanks but it’s weird being called ‘cute’ by someone younger than me” He said and Nino let out a loud laugh his eyes really dancing now. Jun couldn’t understand what was so funny about that. Nino was obviously younger than him right? Okay he was some big time company owner but he couldn’t be that old, a child genius or something.
“Hmm… How old would say I was?” Nino asked when he had stopped laughing.
“20… 22”
“Nope” Nino shook his head
“18 or 19” Aiba put in joining in on the game excitedly though only Jun could hear him.
“Think… Older…” Nino said and it took a moment for Jun to realise he was talking to him and not Aiba.
“25?” He said looking at him as the stopped at the same traffic light they had stopped at a few minutes ago. Not that anyone but Jun seemed to notice
“I wish… I’ve just turned thirty” Nino admitted and Jun’s eyes nearly fell out of his head, he was only 26 so that meant Nino was four year older than him. There was no way that was possible, some people really did have all the luck.
“So what you’re a millionaire genius games designer with the fountain of youth in your spare bedroom?”
“I’m not a genius…” Nino said looking slightly uncomfortable by the praise “And I don’t have the fountain of youth, I’ve just never looked my age…”
“So how did you know that I wasn’t in my thirties?” Jun mumbled wondering if Nino had looked into him or something. He hadn’t denied the part about being a millionaire, Jun noticed, he wouldn’t put it past him if he had looked into him before sending him his address.
“When you paid for the game I noticed your I.D” Nino shrugged “So are we ever going to park up and eat… As pretty as the town is I wouldn’t want to see it for the fifth time…”
“Truthfully I wasn’t sure where you would want to eat…” Jun admitted looking sheepish by that.
“We could go to a drive through, get some burgers park up and listen to music” Nino suggested and then another grin spread across his lip “Unless of course that would be too much like eating crap for you…”
“No that would be fine, though it wouldn’t seem that much like a real date” Jun said turning the car around and heading to a take out. “And we can’t use the stereo without it blowing the battery…”
“So… No music… I guess we could talk but that would mean you actually holding up a conversation… With me and not yourself….” Nino said with a small smile
“I haven’t talk to Ma-Myself all night…” Jun put in, adding ‘well not aloud anyway’ it was the truth after all, and Aiba was trying to be as quiet as possible since they had started talking.
“True but the night is still young”
“Even if you’re not” Jun added and Nino playfully hit his arm. They were lucky when they reached the drive thru, they were in and out in a matter of minutes and Nino was hugging the warm bag happily with a huge grin on his face “Are you really a thirty year old millionaire? You act more like a high school brat”
“And you act overly familiar, but you’re wrong I’m not a millionaire… The last time they checked I was a multi-millionaire… Doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy hamburgers…”
“You could own your own burger bar…”
“I do you just bought our burgers from there” Nino said simply, it wasn’t a brag just a statement which for Jun it felt even more shocking. He could feel Aiba was buzzing with it as well. “So are you going to tell me what you do for a living?”
“I’m a hairdresser” Jun admitted though he didn’t want to. Well he was half owner of a fashion boutique but no matter how he dressed it up he was no way compatible for Nino, as friend or a lover. He was thrilled by that fact, at least now he could say he had tried like he had promised Aiba.
“I won’t give up!” Aiba said confidently obviously hearing his brain ticking “Besides you’re perfectly good enough to be with Nino-chan…You’ve been talking with him like he’s an old friend all night… You haven’t even talked to Sho-chan this much…”
“I have…” Jun said before he could stop himself and Nino looked at him with raised eye brows the worried/teasing look back in his eyes “I have my own shop” He added lamely parking up next to a park. Nino’s eyes cleared and he gave another smile
“Maybe I’ll see it one day…”
“Maybe…” Jun agreed almost reluctantly as he took a burger.
“So who was he?” Nino asked in between bites of hamburger and Jun blinked
“Huh?” he asked
“The guy, the one you wish you were here with?” the older man said still with the same smile
“What makes you think…?” He said slowly and Nino gave a laugh that died down quickly.
“Takes one to know one… You tell me yours I’ll tell you mine”
