Nino rested back in his chair staring at the phone, and then at the picture that he kept on his desk. A sleepy tanned face smiled up at him from behind a fish on a line. He had lied about the board meeting he had had one earlier but that was over and done with now. “The aquarium, huh?” he mumbled running his fingers over the picture wanting to feel warm skin but only feeling cold glass against his fingertips. “Did you send him to torment me, Samii? Why is it, the only two guys I have ever ‘dated’ have something to do with fish? If he tries to get me on a boat I’ll scream...”
“Ninomiya-sama, I’m sorry to disturb you but you have that meeting with ‘Areo’ this afternoon… They want to show you the new prototype…”
“Okay…” Nino said trying to not to sigh, Aero was the first company that had taken a chance on him and Ohno ten years ago and he always made himself go directly to the chairman even though he would rather send someone else. “But there’s somewhere I want to go first” his assistant nodded slowly his eyes flickering to the picture. He left his office and went down into the waiting car his rested his head against the smooth cream leather and remembering back to ten years ago, fresh out of school with just the inheritance from his grandfather. Neither of them would have imagined that they would have had this much success with ‘SK’ but as it slowly expanded outside their single bedroom apartment Ohno had decided that as Nino was the more confident he would be the face. Nino had protested deeply at that more so when Ohno had said that it would be better if nobody knew they were gay.
The car stopped outside the churchyard and Nino got out telling the driver that he would be right back. Outside there was a woman selling flowers and he stopped to buy some white lilies. The stones were shining in the light and Nino’s eyes darted around, he knew where Ohno’s was without even looking and he would go there after but first there was someone else he wanted to greet. Soon, not too far away from Ohno’s own stone he saw the one he was looking for.
“Aiba Masaki…If you lay down and wait for a miracle nothing will ever happen…” He read slowly to himself taking out one of the flowers he lay it over the fresh ones that were already there. “Hello, Aiba-chan, you don’t know me and if you could hear me you would think it was weird ne? But I’m sort of a friend of your boyfriends… When I first heard your name I thought I’d heard it somewhere before… Jun-kun, he’s a nice guy ne, a bit weird but that’s understandable… Anyway I just wanted to tell you that… If he gives me the chance I promise that I’ll look after him for you… But you have to do me a favour okay? My oji-chan… my Samii would you keep an eye on him although I guess he’s off fishing somewhere… This is silly I’m as bad as Jun-kun talking to myself…” He sighed getting up and going over to Ohno’s stone. He placed the rest of the flowers down before bringing his fingers to his lips and pressing them down on the stone over the name. “Ohno Satoshi”
The stone was a simple design though Nino wanted it to be fancier he knew that Ohno would want it plain, completely unlike the man himself. The only decoration was a small fish that looked like it was leaping out of water. He didn’t linger by Ohno’s stone just tidied it up a little and then went back to his car, he never really spoke to Ohno by the grave stone, he knew that if the afterlife was real his Ohno would be on a boat somewhere fishing, or he would be watching over him.
The meeting with the chairman of Aero was just a pleasant as he had expected the CEO of the company spent most of the time trying to set him up with his granddaughter and Nino just laughed assuring him that he was dating someone. The prototype was as expected and Nino fully agreed to found the project, he very rarely refused Aero’s requests. They had been good to them over the years. After Aero there was a meeting with a company that was just starting out, they seemed a little young but they were keen and he agreed a deal. Once they had both signed and sealed the contract he was free to leave for the weekend.
The house was stupidly large and Nino almost hated it, he had been a lot happier in the small apartment but there were appearances that he had to keep up. There was only one other person in the house besides him and that was Yamoto, his security guard they didn’t speak unless they had too. Though he knew the older man kept an eye on more than the house. Most of the rooms were empty and un-used unless there was a party that he couldn’t escape throwing. He had converted three rooms on the second floor into ‘an apartment’ and that was where he spent his time.
He pulled of his jacket and threw it down onto a chair before pulling of the stuffy shirt he was wearing and pulling on a light jumper and making some instant noodles grinning when he remembered Jun’s reaction to him buying them, he had been surprised but pleased by the overreaction and he was glad when Jun had actually asked him out. Even seeing him talking to himself hadn’t dampened the sexy feel and for some he had felt that the hair dresser was just as lonely as he was.
He went into the living room and switched on his game playing it till his was almost ready to collapse with exhaustion looking up at the clock he realised that there was only six hours until his ‘date’ with Matsu. He switched off the game and lay down on the sofa pulling a blanket over himself hoping to have at least three hours sleep before he had to get ready and go.
He managed four hours and soon he was in the shower and getting ready he didn’t normally spend to long deciding what to wear as long as it wasn’t a suit it didn’t matter but today he wanted to look as good as possible and it wasn’t until he had tried on at the 7 different combinations of clothing that he was finally happy, in a pair of tight fitting jeans a t-shirt, shirt and jacket, he sorted his hair out and wondered vaguely if he should go to Jun’s shop and have it cut. When he was finally ready he called his driver and left the house.
The drive to the aquarium was shorter than he remembered and he realised that he was about half an hour too early. With a sigh he got himself a drink and sat in a plastic chair ignoring the people that were looking at him like he had been stood up. He couldn’t understand why he wanted this to go well, it was more than obvious that Jun wasn’t over Aiba, he should have just refused the ‘redo’ but when the hair dresser had asked it had felt like he was really asking this time not being forced into it by some unseen force and he although he had opened his mouth to say ‘no’ it had come out as ‘Yes’. He finished his drink and looked around grinning wickedly as he saw his date getting off of the bus, so he hadn’t trusted his car either he thought getting to his feet he walked over to him a grin on his face
“So after all that talk about your car being okay you didn’t bring it?” He asked without even saying hello and Jun turned to face him with a cute look on his face.
“It is okay, but I thought that maybe it could do with a rest today…”
“Did you wrap it in a blanket and give it some hot soup?” Nino teased and Jun gave a small laugh, motioning to the doors and with a nod they walked to the entrance and started their redo date.
