Previous Part:Part 7
Jun touched the locket lightly wondering if he should tell Nino about it, after all he had told him about his encounter. It had been two weeks since their redo date at the aquarium and they had met nearly every day since. Sometimes it wasn’t for long, maybe for just an hour to have a cup of coffee. For some reason it felt as if Nino was keeping an eye on him. It could be that the elder guy thought he would do something stupid but every time they met Jun was finding it harder and harder not to hope that it was because Nino genuinely wanted to see him.
They talked about everything that was happening in their lives. Like the little old man that come into Jun’s shop every two weeks like clockwork for a haircut, although he only had at most five hairs on the top of his head. Nino told him about the products and projects he was funding and each one seemed more interesting than the last. Nino kept saying that Ohno was the brain behind ‘SK ltd’ but Nino had more than enough brains himself to keep the company going.
“I’d tell him, I think Nino-chan would believe you! And maybe I would be able to say ‘hello’” Aiba said excitedly clapping his hands “Don’t you think it would be cool if I could say hello to him?”
“Wouldn’t that be a little bit weird?” Jun asked before he could stop himself and the two people that were in the waiting room looked up at him in surprise, he gave a grin pointing to the non-functioning ear piece. Nino had bought it for him as a joke, but when he was working in the shop he had taken to wearing it just in case.
“Hehe, Nino-chan really helped you, ne? When you first met him I told you he was a good guy!” Aiba said and Jun nodded ‘Switching off’ the phone he called the first guy over. It hadn’t really been his dream to open a boutique in fact he had looked forward to a different life but with everything that happened only the kindly old man that had owned the barbers that was here before had taken pity on him and offered him a job. A year and a half ago he had let him buy into it at a suspiciously good rate and he had even let Jun redo it into his own style. They were small with few clients but the ones that did come were loyal, it wasn’t much but it helped him keep a living and roof over his head. He had had finished his regular clients and was sweeping up hair when he heard a now familiar voice say loudly,
“Wow… This place is cool”
“Nino… What are you doing here?” Jun asked turning in amazement to see the CEO, standing in the doorway in a very expensive suit and a huge smile on his face
“I was hoping to get my hair cut, but looking at this place I should have booked months ago…” He answered looking around with his sharp eyes taking in every detail
“You can take the piss all you want…” Jun rolled his eyes picking up the hair with a dust pan. Okay to some one that owned a mansion this place really must seem unimpressive but it was still his, and he would defend it.
“I’m not, this time I’m being completely serious, this place is cool…But I guess it could do with some more clients ne?” Nino mumbled thoughtfully seeing the empty seats in the waiting room “I mean you are open right?”
“More clients would mean more staff, staff that I haven’t got… And I defiantly don’t have the means to pay them before… Wait…” Jun stopped his blood running cold praying that Nino had misunderstood him,
“What?”
“Don’t get an idea’s I wasn’t hitting you up for a loan…” Jun said clearly and Nino looked mildly surprised as if the thought hadn’t even crossed his mind
“I wasn’t going to offer you one… Truth is, I don’t invest in the company I invest in the person and sorry sweetheart but I don’t think you’re the type of person I’d invest in yet, you’re still not there… Giving you a loan until you’re ready to really work would be throwing away money” Nino told him in a completely business like tone, Jun had to blink rapidly in surprise while Aiba gave a nervous giggle
“You were told!” He said and the hairdresser gave a slow nod and then motioned to the chair
“Do you want to sit?”
“Yes thanks… I’m sorry for what I said but although I think this place has potential I wouldn’t risk it on you”
“Thanks you know how to fill a person with confidence… How about I give you a buzz cut?” Jun grumbled but there was no feeling in it, he could understand why Nino would say that. If he was an investor he’d say ‘stuff you’ too.
“Hmm… How about no… Now if you asked and if you were really in need of the money I would give it to you…Or maybe if you said you wanted a new car… No wait seriously do you want a new car? I’ve started having nightmares about the one you’re driving…”
“No I don’t want a new car!”
“Hmm too bad… When’s your birthday?”
“You’re not buying me a car for my birthday… I’m not your ‘kept woman’…”
Nino gave a bright laugh that was echoed by Aiba’s in his head and Jun found himself blushing and pulling on the protective cover around Nino’s neck with more force than he would have normally done.
“Sorry… Okay I won’t buy you a car, so could you not strangle me?” Nino asked still laughing and Jun really would have been tempted to give him a buzz cut except he really did look cute with hair and he wanted to do it properly.
“So what do you want me to do?” He asked his fingers running through soft hair and looking at him in the mirror
“Hmm… I dunno… Do what you want…” Nino shrugged and Jun was surprised but pleased the only other person that had let him go wild on his hair had been Aiba back in college. It hadn’t been the world’s greatest success,
“One side had been higher than the other!” Aiba pouted a little
‘But we did start a trend…’ Jun thought back as he picked up his scissors.
“Only because Sho-chan copied, and then that other younger guy…” Aiba said and Jun felt a light laugh filling his mind.
“Thinking about Aiba-chan?” Nino asked softly and Jun started slightly taking the comb out of his mouth
“Sorry…”
“No… It’s nice to see it… You nearly always have that happy smile on your face when you think about him now…Before you had such a scary look, I was worried but it looks like you’ve started remembering the happy times…You must have a lot of happy memories”
“I guess I have” Jun mumbled as he combed the hair, before he had met Nino, he wouldn’t have even thought once about the happy memories, thinking they were too painful but now they were coming in thick and fast. Aiba had gone silent again and Jun could see the pleased smile that would be on his face. Jun smiled again making the first cuts into Nino’s hair “Thanks for sticking with me…”
“I could say the same… But if you’re really thankful… I have to throw a stupid party this weekend, and I was hoping that you would be there… Not as my ‘kept woman’ or even as a date… But um I really would like you to be there…”
“Um… If you send a car for me… I’ll be there” Jun promised he wanted to add ‘as your date’ and he could feel Aiba urging him to do so but it still didn’t feel right. Not yet. But he couldn’t deny the smile Nino gave him through the mirror was enough to flip his stomach upside down.
