Nino couldn’t believe that Ohno was really in front of him, or more accurately in his arms. The farmer was even more tanned than before but just as beautifully handsome, radiating kindness and love from his eyes. He wanted to stay like that forever but he was aware of the disturbance that they were causing around them. He reluctantly moved away, out of the farmer’s arms and with shaking hands he picked up his note book and started writing.
>Please come with me?< He asked nervously and to his relief Ohno nodded following him into the castle.
Ohno gave a polite bow to the footman who seemed frozen to the spot, wondering if he had managed to upset a close, personal friend of the king. He followed Nino through the main hall of the castle and up a long twisty staircase and down a corridor that seemed to be never ending. Eventually they stopped and Nino pulled out a key unlocking the door they were facing. When they stepped inside Ohno realised they were in what must be the king’s rooms. There was a sitting area, with two chairs in front of a fire, and through an archway and up two steps was a bedroom and changing area, on his right was another door and Ohno though it must be Nino’s bathroom.
Nino motioned for him to sit in one of the chairs while he sat in the other and in a long heavy silence they stared at each other neither knowing what to say and how to act. Four years they had long to see each other and now it had finally happened things felt heavy and uncontrolled between them. Slowly the king picked up his note book and the sound of the pencil scratching the paper filled the room
>I went to see you… I’m sorry about Kana…I liked her a lot…< he wrote and Ohno bowed his head, pain settling in his chest as he thought about Kana again.
“She talked about you a lot” He told the king with a sad smile “And the time you spent with us…”
>Why didn’t you tell me… Why didn’t you let Jun or Toma tell me she was sick?< Nino wrote quickly, his handwriting a little messy in his haste.
“I didn’t want to worry you… With everything that had been happening to you… I didn’t want to worry you…” Ohno muttered though he knew that wasn’t a real excuse nor was it the truth. Although he had told himself that he understood why there wouldn’t be everyday he had hoped for a letter but none ever came.
>I love you… I thought you loved me too, Toshi… Four years is a long time…< Nino wrote and his hand writing was slightly shaky showing the pain he was feeling inside.
“You didn’t write to me either” Ohno mumbled and the king stood up quickly and went to a drawer that was beside his bed. The farmer watched as Nino pulled out stacks of paperwork and carried them to the table next to the chair Ohno was sitting in before picking up his note pad again.
>I wrote to you every day… At night I sat and I wrote to you… For four years…< He wrote not looking up at him, and Ohno was positive that there was a faint blush in his cheeks. He looked down at the stack of letters, noticing that some were slightly discoloured indicating that they were the older ones. Carefully he pulled one out and unfolded it revealing Nino’s neat spiralling hand writing, ‘Dear Toshi… It is a year to the day since I last saw you, I wonder sometimes if I will ever see you again, I ask the gods not to make it soon, even though I miss you I would not want any harm to come to Kana so I can see you again… I wish that just once, I could escape the castle and come to see you again. I want to believe that you still love me and think about me, but every day it gets harder…Your Kazu always xxXxx’
Ohno looked up at the chair Nino had been sitting in surprised to find it empty. He looked around the room until his eyes found the king standing by the stained glass window, bathed in a beautiful glow. He wasn’t looking at him, but Ohno could see that his cheeks were bright red and slowly he picked out another letter.
‘Dear Toshi, I went into the kitchen today, the cooks were surprised but I had a huge desire to eat your favourite stew… Not even Maggie knew how to make it so I spent the afternoon showing her, just like Kana had shown me... For a while It felt a little like being back in your farm, I closed my eyes and I wanted the door to open and you to come in and taste it like you used to… Toshi, I miss you and Kana so much…love always, your Kazu xxxXxxx’
Ohno swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat looking at Nino who was giving him shy cute looks from the corner of his eye. Ohno carefully put the letter back and picked up another, more recent one.
‘Dear Toshi, I had to meet with Ryuu today, I was so scared, but I shouldn’t have been, throughout the whole meeting with him I managed to not be afraid. When the images of him tried to come I thought about you and our first time together and they vanished. You were so gentle you made me feel so special and so loved…Thank-you, for giving me the courage to get through… Ne, Toshi, although I can remember our times together some of the details are missing… Was your skin really that warm? Was it really that soft? I wish I could remember those details, Toshi… Love Always Your Kazu…’
Ohno dropped the letter down back onto the pile that he would continue reading later. He stood up and almost marched over to the king pulling him into a breath taking kiss, his hands going up to stroke at his cheeks, Nino’s arms wrapped around him and their bodies moulded together automatically. He could feel the slight tremble of the king and he could feel love claiming every part of his body yet again. How could he have even thought for a second that Nino would have forgotten him or the love they shared?
“I love you Kazu, I’m sorry that I left you alone for so long...” He whispered when they broke apart for air, the king smiled his eyes telling him that it was okay because he was here now. Nino took his hand and kissed the palm before taking up his notebook and writing slowly
>You’re here now, Toshi… you kept your promise…like I always knew you would… Will you stay with me forever? I can’t let you leave me again…< the pencil stopped moving an anxiously Nino waited for his response. Things would be a lot easier if he just left with the Aiba’s, there was already going to be talk from the staff, but looking into that face Ohno knew he couldn’t hurt him again.
“I’ll stay…of course I’ll stay…” He said loving the way Nino’s face split into a wide toothy smile. He wondered vaguely if they would take him on as a gardener or something the grounds around here were extensive they must need all the help they could get. “Kazu…” He started but the king was already kissing him again his arms wrapping around his neck tightly not allowing any space between them.
Ohno was convinced that they would have stayed like that forever until his stomach gave a loud grumble and Nino pulled away with a bright silent laugh. He went to his bedside and rang a bell soon the door opened and the door burst open revealing all their friends from four years ago and Sakurai,
The room got pretty loud as Toma, Matsu, and Yamapi were all trying to greet him at once, at some point Nino must have asked for food because some appeared and they spent the day talking and remembering old times and stories of Kana and their times on the farm. Nino nestled in beside him holding his hand tightly as they raised a glass in memory of his grandma. The party came to an end when Nino’s head lolled against his shoulder and very quietly Matsu told him that he had travelled for three days without stopping. They left the room again and Ohno carried the king to his bed kissing his forehead before going to read some more of the four year’s worth of letters.
