Nino nodded as he looked at the raised hands, there wasn’t a 100% chance that this would work but it was better than nothing, the little girl Mayo had gripped his hand tightly and Nino had to admire her courage, she reminded him a little of Jun but without the glaring and the fact that she had a wave of curls cascading down her back. Maybe when this was all settled he and Jun could take her in, he had no doubt in his mind that Jun would like dressing her up as a little princess doll
“Mayo… Are you hungry?” he asked and the girl nodded, Nino gave a smile, “Okay, stay with human papa… Jun, Oh-chan you have the relics, if another vampire comes use them…”
“Where are you going?” Jun asked a little fearfully and Nino stroked his face and lips.
“They need real food, I can’t give out much more of my blood I would have to take more from you… And I…”
“You could take our blood too right” Ohno said and Nino shook his head looking at Jun who was now pretty much openly glaring at them.
“Nope, I’ll only take blood from Jun” The vampire said brightly, “You better light a small fire for when I get back…”
“So what happens when he becomes a vampire?” Ohno pointed out, that was something that he would have to think about
“That is something we’ll have to sort of then, right sweetie…” Nino grinned swinging the girl up into his arms and laughing when she giggled. He passed her to Jun and then kissed his lover before disappearing out of the farmhouse. He sniffed the air and caught the scent of an animal. Hunting was actually pretty fun, allowing his natural instincts to take over. He even made a game of it stalking his prey allowing them to get so far away before catching them and draining the blood. Somehow he was rather disgusted at how his body was enjoying the chase. He gathered his kills and some water in a barrel and headed back to the farmhouse. His eyes could easily spot the fire that had been lit and he scanned the surroundings making sure there were no other vampires in the area. Luckily they were too far from Tokyo to attract much attention but they were going to have to move soon.
He went to the house making sure his face was clear before pushing open the door. He dropped the food and water down before cutting up the meat in silence. After he had finished his moved aside and watched the humans have a BBQ style meal. The air was strangely relaxed and Mayo came to sit against him and Jun eating her meal carefully making noises of happiness. After everybody had eaten their fill and the little girl had fallen asleep against Jun’s warm chest, holding Nino’s hand tightly, the vampire turned to Aiba and asked.
“Tell me about Sakurai”
“Master Sakurai? Um… He raised me since I was a baby, he found me after my parents had been killed and he took me in…”
“So you knew he was a vampire even before they took over?” Jun asked in surprise and Aiba nodded
“Yes, Master Sakurai was disappointed when the vampires completely took over; he said that we needed to find a way to all live together”
“So why do you call him ‘master’ then?” Nino asked thoughtfully with a smirk on his thin lips, Aiba’s eyes widened and then he gave a loud laugh
“Sho-chan told me that I had to call him ‘Master’ to other vampires, if they thought that I was being… In-so-lent… They would kill me…” He admitted and Nino nodded, that was true, even Jun had had to call him master sometimes.
“So you and Sho-chan… Are… What exactly?”
“He was my mama and papa, then my brother and now he’s my friend…” Aiba said with a shrug, before adding very quickly “It’s nothing more than that!”
“But you would like it to be?” Nino asked knowingly loving the way the human blushed as he nodded a little reluctantly
“I love Sho-chan! But he would never think of me like that…” he said in a small voice looking shyly into the crowd of humans and against his nature Nino decided to take pity on him.
“So if Sho-chan was as wonderful as you say how did you end up on a farm?”
“It was my fault, Sho-chan… He doesn’t live in a territory… He moves around avoiding the main cities, he says it’s because makers aren’t liked very much by other vampires. They can make humans into vampires, but to them humans are meant to be food… ‘You wouldn’t make a cow wear clothes…’”
“I see, I always wondered why there weren’t more makers…” Jun said and Nino nodded.
“That is how most vampires see it… So why didn’t he turn you into one? It would have been safer for you”
“He was going too… But he said he had to wait until I was older, proper vampires like you age up until a certain point, ne? But made vampire’s they stay the age they are when they’re made, so he was waiting for me to become adult…”
“It’s weird that before you made it sound like my mum told you what he was…” Nino mumbled and Aiba shrugged
“Sho-chan…He told me to play as dumb as possible…I wanted to see what type of person you were first!” he said cheerfully, and Nino gave a laugh,
“I see, so how did you become separated?” He asked getting back to the story Aiba had been telling. Aiba scratched his head looking a bit sheepish before continuing,
“Well we were moving from one of his houses in the woods to another in the east and well I saw a rabbit and I chased after it, Sho-chan followed me but well these other vampires found me first, Sho-chan tried to tell them that I was his pet but they just laughed… One of them broke my arm and Sho-chan told them to take me… I ended up in the farm and then this really beautiful female vampire came, she gave me some of her blood and told me not to worry…” He smiled then, “She looked a bit like you, except her hair was longer… and her eyes were grey… She brought Ohno with her and she said something about her husband making a move and that I had to help Ohno and whoever he was with if I wanted to get back to Sho-chan...”
“You know sometimes, I wish I wasn’t left out of the fucking loop, if she’d have fucking told me I would have been able to stop my father from hurting Jun…”
“Then you wouldn’t be as motivated to do the stuff you’re planning, Aoi-chan knew this…” Ohno mumbled absentmindedly, “She has no right to challenge your father…”
“So she used Jun… She allowed my father to do that to Jun just so that I would react? She’s no better than my father” Nino snapped his eyes flashing dangerously as he looked at his lover,
“Nino… It wasn’t like that, Aoi-chan she didn’t want it to work out this way… She was meant to stop him before things went too far…”
“She was too late” Nino grumbled and Jun put a hand on his shoulders reassuringly and when he heard the little girl let out a soft whine Nino stopped giving a sigh.
“It’s over now…” Jun told him and shook his head
“No it’s not, It won’t be over until he’s dead…” Nino spat, the anger building In his chest again as he saw a flash of Jun sitting in the scolding water of the bath, bite marks and bruises covering his body, fear and unshed tears in his eyes.
“-Zu… Kazu…” Jun said softly and Nino pulled himself out of his memories. He looked and realised that nearly every human in the room was staring at him. The one guy, with black hair and slightly puffy cheeks was peering at him and Nino knew there was going to be another question. There was something off about this guy and it was really starting to irritate him,
“So what I don’t understand is if everyone is all being changed into vampires… How will you be making it a safe haven for humans?”
“I don’t know… But I want to know how and why a vampire was in the farm…” Nino said and the ‘human’ gave a wide grin
“Finally figured it out, too bad this was fun right Ma-chan?” He said nodding at Aiba who giggled cutely going to his side.
“So is this part of your play dumb thing too?” Nino asked his eyes narrowing at the pair, he felt like he had been played for a fool and he really wasn’t happy about that.
The newly revealed vampire put an arm around his human tightly looking at his face carefully, before looking at Nino and Nino knew that no matter what Aiba thought, his ‘master’ already had a thing for him
“Somebody took my Ma-chan, I came to get him back… I was offered a deal and I took it… I’m Sakurai Sho… I’m the maker… If you’re really going to do what you say, I’m in…”
