A/N; Warning some slightly emo Nino, sorry about that, I love Nino so it was really hard writing him like this. :-(, character ages changed, Ohno is about 8 or 9 years older, Aiba and Sakurai are about 6 years older than Matsumoto and Ninomiya.
Matsu stared at the phone as the line went quiet he could still hear a gentle hum from the line but little else "Kazu?!" he shouted "Kazu? Where are you?"
"Jun-kun? What happened?"
"He was crying... He never cries, not even back then..." Matsu answered standing up and grabbing his coat, the noise he could hear didn't sound like game 'What did he mean 'I'm too pathetic to even kill myself'?' He wondered grabbing his house phone he dialed for a taxi. Praying he wasn't too late.
He ran to the apartment building, thankful at least there were no ambulance crews or police, he pressed to button that said 'Ninomiya' but received no answer "Shit!" He swore wondering if he should call Ohno and ask if there was spare key, but he remembered he had left his phone at home. "Fuck! Shit!" He snapped again kicking the metal fence,
"Hey are you okay?" A soft feminine voice asked from the door, looking slightly hesitant of the mad man in front of her
"Uh? Ah I left my key..." Matsu lied blushing slightly, embarrassed to be seen like that.
"Oh... Well the door's open..." She said softly unlocking it again with her own key
"Thank-you" He grinned pulling down his hood in his relief absent mindedly revealing who he really was. The woman's mouth fell open as he pushed passed her giving her a quick bow. He didn't wait for the elevator instead running up the stairs two at a time until he reached Nino's floor. He banged on the door even though he suspected he wouldn't get an answer, he chewed his lip looking around; he saw another flight of stairs leading to the roof. Just barely, remembering the sounds from the phone call, before he ran up them. Pushing open the door he breathed in the cold fresh air as he searched around wildly, his breath catching as he saw Nino slumped by the edge of the roof. "Nino! Kazu!" He shouted running to his side and touching his cold shoulder. Nino made no response as Matsu gently rolled him onto his back, shocked at how thin and pale he was, realizing that he was wearing at least two t-shirts under his sweater. "What the hell were you doing..." He muttered scooping him into his arms, carrying him gently down the flight of stairs; he was relieved to hear a soft sigh come from Nino telling him that he was only asleep. Reaching into the pocket of the supposedly skin fit jeans he pulled out a key. Shifting Nino's weight he unlocked the door and stepped inside. It was only about half the size of his own apartment and full of video games and machines that lay scattered around, fast food boxes lay here and there and Matsu wondered where Nino spent his money. With a sigh he carried him to the bedroom and wondered why this was the only place that seemed 'Unlived' in. He had even noticed that the alarm clock was by the settee not the bed. "I'm so sorry, Kazu" He whispered as he lay him down moving the silky hair away from his pale face, stroking the tear tracks. "Even like this you're still beautiful," Nino let out a soft moan, causing Matsu's hand to freeze near his lips, staring at his eyes, which thankfully stayed shut. After four years of only sharing insults, he doubted Nino would be thrilled to see him in his apartment let alone stroking his face like a lovesick school boy. He really did still love him though; he could admit it to himself after his talk with Sakurai. Making sure he was unharmed he tried to find a phone. After tripping over the wii for the fourth time he decided it was impossible, Nino seemed to survive solely on his mobile, which must still be on the roof. The door of the bedroom was pushed open, and Nino stumbled in a glare on his face.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" He growled gripping the doorframe for support, Matsu let out a long sigh striding across the room he pulled him back into the bedroom and almost threw him on the bed.
"Shut up and rest, Kazu" He said wrapping the cover around him "Do you have a house phone? I left my mobile at home"
"Answer me, what are you doing here?" Nino asked again glaring up at him, Matsu smiled sadly
"Because I want to be ... It's taken me awhile, but I want to keep our promise, Kazu..." he murmured sitting the edge of the bed, taking his hand "I'm sorry... I know it means nothing now... "
"Damn right it doesn't... Get out now..." Nino snapped pulling his hand away.
"No chance..." He said "I found you in a heap on the floor, after telling me you wanted to kill yourself... You really think I'm going to leave you alone?"
"What do you care? I'm just the guy that stalked you for awhile right? That kept clinging on to you and your friends because I couldn't make any of my own..." Nino felt tears rising up and spilling over as he repeated every word that Matsu had said to him four years ago "I make you sick just looking at me..."
"I regret ever saying that..." Matsu mumbled truly hating those words, even more because he was the one that had said them "Please as my lifelong friend let me help you out... Just for awhile..."
Nino let out a low sigh, folding his arms over his chest and then nodded, he was tired, it wasn't just physically either, it was emotionally. He shivered as he admitted to himself it wasn't the first time he had been up on the roof that week, but it was the first time he had gotten so close to ending it all. There was no-one else that was going to help him
"Fine" He mumbled wiping his eyes, he reached into the beside drawer and pulled out a wireless house phone
"What the hell do you keep it in there for?" Matsu hissed taking it and dialing his own apartment. Relived when he got an answer
"Moshi Moshi, Matsumoto residence..." Sakurai said in a slightly tipsy voice
"Sakurai-senpai, thank goodness you're still there..."
"Jun-kun... I couldn't really leave; you took off in a hurry and took your keys with you, so I couldn't lock up..."
"Oh... Um sorry about that... I'm at Nino's apartment, I know its cheeky senpai, but could you bring me over a change of clothes? Don't, worry about locking the apartment; the porter will watch it..."
"Sure thing..." Sakurai agreed and Matsu wondered if Aiba forgot things so much he was used to running around after people
"Also my mobile..."
"Gotcha, see you soon..."
"Thanks Senpai" Matsu hung up the phone and handed it back to Nino, who had been watching him with a raised eyebrow
"Sakurai will think I'm a loser..." He grumbled sticking it back in the drawer
"He won't, Nino" Matsu reassured him gently, "Right do you have any actual food in this place?"
"I haven't been shopping..."
"Yeah... Since you moved in apparently... Are you really trying to live on takeaway?"
"Argh! Forget it... Fuck off... I don't need you..."
"Yeah, you do" Matsu told him gently turning away as his own eyes filled with tears.
"Don't be so confident!" Nino hissed throwing a pillow at the closing door
Matsu laughed glad to see some of the old Nino, still in him, as he went to survey what was actually in the cupboard, luckily he found a dusty but still safe tin of soup and after some poking around in the Mount Fuji style pots and pans he managed to rustle up a tin opener and a clean saucepan. He looked at the oven ring glad to see it was electric because that bill was obviously paid, tomorrow he would wrestle with Nino to come and stay with him, just for a few days while he recovered some body fat. The door buzzer sounded just as the soup was simmering gently, looking at the fuzzy grey screen he saw a tired looking Sakurai holding a rucksack. He buzzed him in and poured half the soup into a waiting bowl. There wasn't a tray so he grabbed tea towel and went back into the bedroom, Nino was sat against the pillows playing his ds. At some point his had changed into soft yellow jogging bottoms and a white baggy t-shirt, the arms that were exposed were painfully thin and white. "What's that?" He asked eyeing the bowl suspiciously, as he paused the game, putting it down beside him.
"It's just miso soup... It's from a tin but I guess it should be okay..."
"I'm not sick" Nino pouted as it was put in front of him, but his stomach decided to rumble as the smell hit him.
"Yeah, well just eat it... There's more if you want it... I'll let Senpai in" Matsu mumbled hiding a smile as Nino's eyes lightened as he ate some, glad that Sakurai choose that moment to knock so Nino wouldn't see.
"Here you go, I just grabbed some stuff... I didn't know what you wanted..."
"Thanks, Senpai," He said
"How is he?" Sakurai asked seeing the worry in his kohei’s face, for the first time he had wanted Aiba to be wrong, but as always he knew never to place money against his Ai-baby.
"He'll be fine" Nino mumbled joining them before Matsu could answer, "Hello Sakurai-senpai" Sakurai was shocked at the state of him, the joggers no matter how tightly they were tied looked as if they were about to fall off.
"Why are you out of bed?" Matsu snapped turning on him his arms folding across his chest, one impressive eyebrow raised.
"I finished the soup..." Nino said in a fake sheepish voice motioning to the bowl in hands
"So? You want some more?"
"Yeah..."
"Get back into bed, I'll bring you some" Matsu told him taking the bowl their fingers touching ever so lightly. Nino flinched pulling his hand away like a wounded animal and hurried back into the bedroom. Matsu bit back a groan and smiled at Sakurai gratefully "Thanks for the stuff, senpai..."
"Sure, I'll see you later" Sakurai smiled giving him a pat on the shoulder, before heading to the door, "Call me or Ma-kun, if you need anything..."
Matsu smiled until the door closed, then guilt stabbed at his heart, he hadn't realised Nino was in this much trouble. He sighed pushing the feeling away, 'I let him down once I won't do it again' he thought getting the rest of the soup.
A/N; Part 5 and at last some proper MatsuMiya interaction. ^.^ Hope you like it!
